    What's Cooking?

Clam Chowder - Been wanting a big bowl of clam chowder with some good bread. Anyone got a real good recipe for rich, creamy clam chowder they'd like to share? I've made some in the past that were OK. Also, how do you keep leftover chowder from separating?
  4. Looks like a great hunt.
  5. All are new in box.
  6. Got lots of the old, discontinued rogues many of which are various table rock shad patterns if anyone needs some.
  7. VAxxed or unvaxxed doesn't really matter. Hope you get to feeling better quick Ryan. Hoping to kill some South Zone ducks myself.
  8. When I bought my house there was a fence already in place near the rear property line. My surveying buddy came out and found the rear corners inside the neighbors fence. I drafted a document outlining the fact that the fence was on my property and that I was not conceding any land to the neighbor. The neighbor signed the document. May make the new neighbor move the fence to his side of the line.
  9. Prayers from here.
  10. Bet that isn't cheap.
  11. Great job Seth. MDS is an awesome organization and the folks in it are amazing.

    What's Cooking?

Hey Billethead - Any special tricks to cleaning/slicing up the heart? Looked tasty.
  16. Wasn't trying to call him out. Just anti-boga. Yes, they can be used properly. However, many of the pics I see on the internet they are used improperly and can really mess up the fish. More pics using bogas encourages folks to use them and most will not take the time or make the effort to use them properly. Same problem with culling buoys that puncture the jaw. Too many folks use them improperly and rip a huge hole in the fish. I've caught way too many that had the huge hole in them thus making it hard for them to feed. Result is sickly fish and I'd guess death.
  17. Back in the late 70s we'd treck to Bull Shoals around Pontiac in early May. Caught lots of bass. Best two baits we had going were floating black/silver rapalas and purple fire tail worms. Haven't been back since. That is my report.
  18. Absolutely amazes me how many folks rely on their handheld, tracking, phone to run their lives. Doesn't anyone know how to read a map? If the cell system went down folks would lose their freaking minds. Most couldn't survive without their pacifier phone for a week or two.
  19. Congrats. A nice couple of mornings without the crowd.
  20. Nice fish. Be nicer in the net in the water without the boga.
  21. Wrench - You are correct on the constant talking and never sits down. Can't say I have ever seen him eat anything.
  22. At your advanced age I figured I might have to give you some clues, but you got it. Heck I'm probably older than you Doug.
  23. Many many years
  24. Doug you've known me for years.
  25. As a young boy I fished and gigged frogs from the many subdivision ponds in and around Ballwin/Manchester area. Any small creek that traversed the area got fished as well. Every year Dad would take us into upper Michigan to fish trout around the town of Republic on the Fence river and it's tributaries. We also used to go back into Just Lake where I caught a 26" brook trout. Several years we fished around Rapid River/Escanaba areas on the Rapid and Whitefish rivers for trout and also trolled for walleye on Little Bay de Noc. Occasionally Dad would take us to Meramec Springs growing up, but he never really enjoyed that as compared to our Michigan trips. In college at Rolla I haunted the Meramec, Big, Bourbeuse, Huzzah, Courtois, Little Piney, and Gasconade rivers with my future wife. Fished Lake Livingston, Lake Conroe and Toledo Bend when we lived in Houston. Have to say my home lake since moving to KC in 1986 has been Lake Jacomo. I spend plenty of time on LOZ each year and Stockton as well. My kids grew up floating the Sac river from below Stockton dam to Caplinger Mills. Used to be a lot of quality bass in that stretch of river. Got to spend time with my wife's GPA, her step Dad, and my Dad on both the Sac and Stockton lake during their later years. The three of them are gone now, but the pics and the memories never fade. As Alan Jackson says, "Remember when..."
