  1. Kids got in late this afternoon. We got on the water around 7 fished several banks in the coves jigging with white flukes. Nothing doing, switched to Wart craw, about 8 we found a school of SM stacked in 14 fow on a main lake point. Son and grandson had a ball for a while got one on almost every cast. All about 1 - 1.5 lbs. with a few dinks. Hope our luck holds for the weekend.
  2. In Fisherman has a nice article about them. http://www.in-fisherman.com/bass/hybrid-black-bass/
  3. Someone asked Howard Hughes "How much money is enough?" Answer "Just a little bit more."
  4. Great report, I really wish I could get down more often this year but it's not looking good. I love this high water even if we have to take a boat to the dock. Hope the fishing holds till Memorial Day, would like to take some extra time then.
  5. It looks like the rain today is bringing the level up a bit again. We are coming down this week for our annual trip with our son. I think we will try working the treeline then move out to the old shoreline. We had good luck in 08. I expect that any rain will cause some fluctuations in the level at this point. I was down with some guys from work on Apr 22-24 had good luck on smallies Watermelon Candy Chompers, 2 days later the lake was up 18 feet, probably need to change things up this time.
  6. Just don't get them riled and you should be OK.
  7. Rick at Lakeside Resort in Coney Island said he was going to start selling minnows this year. They are on the upper side of the T shaped peninsula across from point 6. Only about 4 or 5 miles by water from Indian Point. You might want to call before going over just to make sure. http://www.lakesideresort.net Also I think there was a post awhile back ( month or so ) about crappie in the Cow Creek area.
  8. Little Cow is just above Point 6 Cow Creek is just below it and Spring Branch is the next one down.
  9. I have a neighbor that said they catch crappie around the Gobbler Mountain Resort Dock. It's about a mile or so down from Kimberling. Haven't heard of any activity yet.
  10. Nice Wally I have been planning to try that area.
  11. Someone told me B O A T stands for Break Out Another Thousand. Some days I think they're right.
  12. There's a nice cutback in the bank just up from Little Cow on the same side. Last weekend we were doing some searching for something different and the gills were very aggressive with my 3/4oz football jig even pulled a couple in on it. (Hooked not snagged) Just not what we were looking for. They were in 20 - 22 ft usually near maple trees. I will be trying this spot with the grand kids next time they're down. Good Luck
  13. Went out for another quickie this morning before we had to head for home. Same point as last night but no K's only SM's some dinks and one 3 lb. Same depth, bait, and presentation as last night. I think the fishing for us has been better this year than it has the last couple years or maybe I'm finally learning to slow down. Hope to be back in 2-3 weeks, by then we may have to resort to the fairy wand drop shot. Good luck everybody we'll leave the rest for you.
  14. Got out about 8 this evening after the end of trip chores were done. Worked one point close to home, we thought most of the cruisers would be in by then, not. We were marking some fish just off the bottom in 22 - 24 feet of water, windward side of main lake point, just across from Little Cow. Fished football jigs with green pumpkin trailers. Missed several that fell very small but did get some nice 2-1/2 - 3 lb K's in. While working a bite I ignored a large cruiser that had gone by earlier and ended taking 2 shots from his wake over the bow as we turned into it just in time, but I did get the fish in. We only fished about 45 min. to an hour before the lightning chased us in. But it was a nice ending for this trip if I can't get out in the morning before we leave for the daily grind world.
  15. Watch that trash after dark. We were out late last weekend and narrowly pasted a 15 - 20 foot floating cedar. Mic
