  1. Yep, they are all out of hatchery.
  2. Sent the pic to the AGFC region 1 supervisor. He says it is most likely a striper, says they seem them that look like that (broken lines) often. Anal fin rays spines weren't right for a hybrid, and the body shape was striper like. That was my impression, fat striper, but the broken lines made me wonder.
  3. I'll also bring plastic plates, utensils, mustard. Anyone bringing any sodas or water?
  4. Talked to someone that was on the Kings yesterday, parking lots full at Viola and Sweetwater, boats everywhere. Seems a lot were on the hunt for white bass. Isn't this week spring break in MO? Weekend of April 8 - KVD Big Bass Bash, MLF College/high school tourney, and there's another one, can't remember what one it is, but they have a permit for 100 boats or something like that. That is going to be one busy weekend, especially if the weather is nice.
  5. If you get a chance, let us know what you think of them once you get some on the water time with them. I'm really curious about the side-scan. I have side scan on my 10 year old Birds, but not that impressed with it. Shows structure really well and shad balls, but fish are hard to pick out. Good side scan to me is just about as good as Livescope for locating fish.
  6. There is some, it isn't bad, but you will run into it.
  7. Got my annual physical today - Doc gave me another year. Which reminds me of an old Henny Youngman joke: A doctor gave a man six months to live. The man couldn't pay his bill, so he gave him another six months.
  8. And they had to paddle upstream into the wind to get to the spot. Both ways...
  9. Haven't watched it yet, don't spoil the ending for me. 😃 Just watched the FOX SW Outdoors fishing show/report. The host was fishing for crappie on DeQueen lake. Using Livescope of course. Seems like every fishing show nowadays features Livescope. You can't get away from it.
  10. On a minnow rig (whatever that is). Caution - link is ad heavy. Colorado Angler Lands Huge White River Brown Trout | Field & Stream (fieldandstream.com)
  11. I have a four legged alarm clock.
  12. Did a little searching, they last stocked hybrids in Beaver in 2014. I wonder if it is possible for hybrid fingerlings to accidentally get mixed in with the stripers when they stock them, or if it is one that got spawned?
  13. Yep, you're going to have to come on down. Supposed to be some rain early next week, but if we don't get flooded they should be hanging around where I saw them today.
  14. Right at 50 when I left.
  15. Slower today, the spotted bass bit pretty well, I caught 4 nice keeper sized spots, but the smallmouth and largemouth were AWOL except for a handful of 12-13" smallmouth. 9 bass total on Ned rigs and 2.8 Keitechs. For the first time since fall I saw some stripers swirling on top. They were in a cove not too far from the Indian Creek ramp, not a bunch of them, and they were scattered. I saw one that came up about 30 feet from the boat, threw a jerk bait at it, but no love. I did catch what looks to be a hybrid or maybe a striper. They stopped stocking hybrids several years ago, but maybe it is a striper, I dunno. Whatever it is, it has obviously eaten well.
  16. I don't follow it like I used to, but the coastal rivers always held a good run of late winter/early spring wild fish. Numbers have been dwindling for years despite closures and literally billions of dollars poured into restoration efforts in the northwest for salmon and steelhead. Sad to see, but I don't think they'll ever come back in significant numbers.
  17. Same reason there is a Starbucks on every corner in Seattle. From a latitude perspective it is pretty far north, makes for some short days in the winter. I liked it, could be out on the river for winter steelhead at 0730 for first light.
  18. Nice one!
  19. Big halibut are another one, it's like lifting a horizontal piece of 3/4" plywood off the bottom, then you make some progress and the plywood swims back to the bottom. In 300 FOW.
  20. That's some great fishing!
  21. If you want to have just about a guarantee on an 8 foot sturgeon or bigger, sign up for one of those Hell's Canyon guided trips. They catch the same fish over and over, they even have them named. They aren't very bright. Had to laugh at Rick's post, knew some guys that went on one of those giant sturgeon trips, they caught one, the first guy that hooked it got so tired of fighting it he had to hand the rod off to one of his buddies.
  22. Fished with a buddy of mine that I haven't fished with for a while, it was fun to catch up on life while fishing. Got to the ramp a bit before 7 and it was still dark, we took our time getting in the water, buzzed over to a gravel point and worked a jerk bait. I had the right one, caught 4 smallies on 4 casts. No big ones, but a couple were over the 15" mark. I was hoping there might be a walleye there, but none there or anywhere else that we could catch. We worked the trees back in Indian creek for a bass here and there, then came back out and went into one of the coves in the main basin. Pulled up on one bank and we could see dark shadows in the water which were some shad schools that were up close to the bank. We caught several bass around them on Ned rigs, couple of them were decent 2.5 lb. largemouth. You would think those fish would've eaten a small swim bait or a jerk bait, but they only wanted that Ned. We left about 1:30 with a couple dozen bass caught, maybe a half dozen were keepers. WT 47-49.
  23. Well I held my nose and watched it. Charlie's side kick (can't remember his name) hasn't been on this year and appears to have been replaced by Charlie's son. Hasn't made it any better. I don't know how that show keeps going on. They did catch fish, they had a couple of young guns as guests that were glued to the FFS screen, throwing Damiki rigs or something like that.
  24. That is a nice spot!
