  1. Boats everywhere, seemed like a Sunday, I agree. Who the heck does the work around here, it seems like everybody is fishing, LOL.
  2. Seems to be a good lake from what I have seen on TV. They had that Texas Bass contest there for a couple of years in the fall where they have FLW and Elite anglers compete. Keith Coombs won it twice, I'd say he might be the favorite IF he can qualify. I think they have some kind of slot limit there, but I could be wrong about that.
  3. Fished it with my buddy Jeb, we had a tough day, 20 bass total with only 2 keepers. Just scattered fish again, some in coves, a few main channel fish, anywhere from 5 FOW out to 20 feet. Caught fish on c-rig, jig, wobble head, shaky head and maybe one or two Ned fish. Had one top water blow up on a walk the dog bait, nice explosion, except for the not grabbing the lure part. It was one of those days, we missed quite a few fish also, just not holding our mouths right or something. Still good to get out on a gorgeous day, water temps 56-60. Water seems to be clearing a bit.
  4. Very nice smallie!
  5. I would check out the Pflueger President and the President Anniversary reels, and I'd look at the 30 and 35 sizes if I was thinking of spooling it with mono in the range you are talking. Pflueger XT reels are sweet also if they are in your price range. There is a $20 manufacturer rebate deal on Pfluegers priced over $99. Haven't fished the Revo myself, but I have heard they are also sweet reels.
  6. A biggun for sure! Congrats Bill!
  7. Today was one of those days where the fish were scattered and would hit some different baits, but never could find that hot bait or location. Caught 18 fish (I count them in my head, no clicker). maybe a half dozen were keepers, but I doubt any of them were over 16". Ned, c-rig UV speed craw, and a wobblehead with a Structure Bug caught the fish. Some on main lake gravel points, some in coves - didn't so much good on steep chunk rock. Saw a couple of beds back in a cove. Caught smallies, LM's, Spots, and one mean. Water temps were 54-57, water still green stained.
  8. I can't think of anything that's close. There are places to eat in Cassville, probably a motel or two also. MDC has some cabins over at Roaring River I believe. Might be a resort in Eagle Rock to stay at.
  9. Good fishing, some real nice quality!
  10. Looks like after today the wind will finally get reasonable. Thanks for the report, the fishing sounds tough out there.
  11. I tip my hat to anyone that can catch a bass in that wind. It was really blowing yesterday here in Bella Vista.
  12. Well you did get a nice largemouth. Could be the high blue skies and wind have them shut down, better luck today hopefully!
  13. What would Dave do? I have heard that steelhead and coho will eat a pink worm, never tried it myself.
  14. Ought to be good for salmon too.
  15. I think you're bringing it back on topic. Yeah that stuff can linger on your skin, clothes, boat, life jacket, you name it.
  16. I really hope it wasn't that Matchlite charcoal. Then there's the other extreme, my neighbor hosted a neighborhood cookout a few years ago, for some reason he decided to use gasoline as a fire starter. He lost some hair.
  17. For some reason drum like living in Oklahoma, cross the state line, start fishing, and you'll probably catch some drum.
  18. I have seen this boat, as Randy says it is very roomy and in great shape.
  19. Wow, that is some good crappie fishing - I'll be very interested to hear how you do on both the crappie and the bass. I need to get over to Grand and do some fishing.
  20. Never have caught one in TR myself.
  21. My buddy Jeb used to use scent all the time when we fished together and we never noticed any difference in catch rates between scent and no scent - I never used any. But it did lead to him catching catfish! I should have tried some the other day when the bass would tap the wobble head, but drop it. Would've made for a good test, but they did start biting it better later, had I put some scent on I would have said it was the scent that got them to bite better. But then again, I was using a Strike King Structure Bug which has built in coffee scent. This kind of stuff is what makes bass fishing so much fun, trying to figure out what they want. I have some Smelly Jelly Craw scent - it really has a strong smell, I'm going to start putting some on the plastics and see if it makes a difference. I tell you though, I have never smelled a crawfish that smells as nasty as that Jelly, as a matter of fact, I really don't detect much if any odor on a craw at all. Of course you don't want to put your nose on one and risk getting pinched.
  22. That is a huge one.
  23. Send Champ188 a PM, (if he doesn't see this) there is a place in Grove that he and the Mrs. like. I can't think of the name.
