  1. I have one, but it refuses to die, and it is beat to heck. I really want to upgrade to an Ultrex with spot lock, but I can't part ways with my Fortrex. Good luck on your search, there have to be some laying around somewhere.
  2. I'm assuming that they fish out of someone else's boat, like their dads. But for sure it seems to be a neccesity to compete in the big time. Are any of the Nixa kids fishing in that MLF HS tourney coming up on Table Rock in early April?
  3. I can't catch them on a jerker. Probably helps to know where they are. 😀
  4. I'm convinced walleye dig chartreuse, and so do smallies. Going by practical experience of course. I like Old Purple and Green Pumpkin/Purple for Trick worms. I don't want to know what the app says about purple. I'll stay ignorant and keep on fishing.
  5. One of my fishing buddies just found out he has Melanoma, next week he's in for surgery. It's fairly small so there's a good chance once removed it will be gone. He reads OA, but rarely posts. One of the guys I worked with, lived in LA, always tanned, lived the fun and sun lifestyle, got Melanoma and it killed him, fairly young guy, early 50's when he died. You gotta keep an eye on any cancerous looking spots that pop up, you have to get Melanoma treated early, it's a killer.
  6. Those are a couple of big pickerel. They were very abundant in Massachusetts when I lived there, and I think I may have caught one that was over 20 inches. They are tasty, but very boney.
  7. They have been for about a week. Popcorn trees and pear trees are all blooming right now.
  8. Nice fish!
  9. Finally got a day where it wasn't blowing like a hurricane.
  10. I went fishing twice on the 6th. Messed up the date on my other thread. Spent the day bank beating, a little too breezy for Ned fishing, except in a few places. Caught some on the cranks and jigs, most of them shallow, less than 10 feet. Smaller fish on average today, only had 2 keepers and had half a dozen or so that were between 10-12 inches. Most came from inside of coves and pockets. Caught 16 total. Noticed several redbuds blooming on the drive home. I think this about 3-4 weeks early for them.
  11. That is some good fishing!
  12. Good luck, I hope you and the kiddo do well.
  13. A few years ago I watched a fishing show that was basically a HS tourney. They were all fishing out of fiberglass bass boats.
  14. There's a high school tourney at Table Rock in early April, 250 boats in the regatta permit. I think it falls under the MLF umbrella. Sure would be interesting to know how many of those kids will be in FFS equipped boats.
  15. Watched some of the Elite coverage at Fork last weekend. Young scopers are dominating. I believe 6 of the top finishers were rookies. Old school guys like Christie, Swindle, and Iaconelli are not even making the cut. The winner, Trey McKinney, all of 19 years old, had 130 lbs. over 4 days. These weren't deep fish they were scoping, mainly fish around trees in 10-15 FOW. A lot were caught on jerkbaits. I have no plans to get FFS, having fun fishing the way I do. And that is what it is all about for me.
  16. Seems more like mid-April than it does early March. Another warm day, surface water temps were 51-53. Bites were scattered today and the bites I could get were shallow. Caught several in 5 feet or less, I don't think that I caught anything out past 15 feet. Jigs and the Ned rig was what i caught them on. They are thumping the jig, always a lot of fun to catch them on a jig. Caught 15 bass, 4 were keepers. Didn't see any of that cedar pollen today, just one old boy burning the ground in the woods behind his house.
  17. Good stuff! Glad to see you guys didn't starve.

    Windy

It was so windy today, the National Weather Service issued a small craft advisory for the local golf course ponds.

She did have a very tough and tragic life. However her son Quanah Parker turned out to be a very respected individual.

Thanks, I will have to read up on that, I like Old West history.

I've always considered the Sons of Katie Elder to be my favorite Wayne movie. Dean Martin, Dennis Hopper, and Geroge Kennedy in it too. Most leading men are short these days, Wayne would be a giant among them.
