Yep, the Zinker is like a piece of foam and it will move with little to no input from the rod. Bad thing about Zinkerz is the consistency of the salt content varies, some will have a lot of salt, some don't, it is aggravating as you don't know until you get them out of the pack. I have not used the Zero much, but I believe they don't have much salt compared to a Zinker.

Well the picture loading process is working today, here are Dutch's 2 smallies:
-
I though going 3 was stretching it. 😃

Zinkerz float too. If you stretch them out you can get a lot of the salt out and they float like a piece of foam. Always have used Zinkerz for Ned, it's the old school Ned bait. Somewhere on the site is a video made by Dtrs5kprs that shows a Ned being worked in a swimming pool with a Zinker. The TRD is bulkier, so probably more buoyant. From what I have seen, the TRD does not use as much salt.

Some places in the main lake in that area, you have 20 feet of viz, once you start getting in Indian it drops to 10 feet or so. Quite a bit of leaf litter and small sticks floating around with not much big stuff, but enough you have to keep an eye out. May be more back further in Indian.

Sheesh, now I gotta buy more stuff. 😃

Fished with Dutch today , we launched at the Indian Creek launch at 0700 and fished until about 1 PM. It was slow today, we caught 9 bass total, but on the plus side, Dutch caught a 3.75 smallmouth and another that went 3. He got them on jigs. I had one that looked to be a least 3, right at the boat that jumped and got off. It was also a jig fish. I did catch a 2 lb. spot and a 16" largemouth on a jig tipped with a half-Zinker as a trailer. The "Pete Special" as I call it. Snagged in Outlet caught a bunch of river fish on that, so I gave it a shot on the lake fish today. @snagged in outlet 3 A few smaller fish came on the Ned. We covered a lot of water with the bites few and far between, fish were anywhere from 5 - 20 feet deep. Got a couple of pics of Dutch with his smallies, but for some reason, I'm getting an error when trying to load them. WT 51-53.

Bucket List Item: catch a fish in all 50 States
Quillback replied to Ham's topic in General Angling Discussion
Just spent some time thinking about it, I believe I have caught something in 20 states, plus Ontario and British Columbia. Not a goal of mine to do all 50 states, just have been a lot of places in my life. -

Utah Lake - First fish in Utah
Quillback replied to Johnsfolly's topic in U.S.A. - South & West Regions
The company I worked for had customers in Salt Lake and Provo, traveled out there many times, but never fished. Seems to me that Utah lake was super polluted but I believe it has been cleaned up somewhat. -
I use about the same casting technique with both types of reels. Left hand near the butt of the rod, right hand at the reel. After making hundreds of thousands of casts with both types of tackle, it's all automatic. But I do hold the BC rod in my left hand, and the spinner in my right when reeling. If I started using a left handed BC reel, I'd have to untrain myself from doing what I do now. I do flip with my right arm, so have to switch the rod over to my left arm after making the flip, but again it is pretty automatic, don't flip much anymore these days anyway. Gives me tennis elbow if I do it all day.

Here's something to shoot for if you are: A blueberry grown in Australia has been recognized by Guiness World Records as the heaviest in the world. The golf-ball-sized berry, picked on Nov. 13 at a farm run by Costa Group in Corindi, Australia, came in at 20.4 grams, or 0.72 ounces, and measures more than an inch and a half across, about 10 times the size of an average blueberry. It easily surpassed the previous record holder, which also came from Australia and weighed 16.2 grams or 0.57 ounces. Senior horticulturist Brad Hocking said the team at Costa, which develops one or two new blueberry varieties a year through its variety improvement program, was “stoked” when the berry was weighed. The record-smashing berry was only one of about 20 of a similar size from the Eterna variety.

That dog got scalped! Poor little feller is going to need a coat if you take him outside in the cold. 😃

Chance Williams of Harrison, Arkansas, was bowfishing in Bull Shoals Lake recently when he put the bull’s-eye on a state record. Williams harvested an unusually large quillback carpsucker measuring 22 inches and weighing 8 pounds, topping the previous mark by 1 pound, 7 ounces. Williams said, “When I shot the fish, I thought it was a small buffalo, but to my surprise it was a very large quillback.” This Arkansas state record for unrestricted tackle (not using rod and reel) tops the previous record for quillback carpsucker held by Caleb Broeker. It just so happens that Williams and Broeker know each other, so a friendly rivalry for the next state record likely has begun. Williams’ impressive quillback is one of several state fishing records set on Bull Shoals Lake. Other current records from the fishery include smallmouth bass, spotted bass and American eel. Bull Shoals Lake also holds the state records in Missouri for largemouth bass, walleye and striped bass. Whether you’re just hoping for a good day on the lake or aiming to catch the next state record, we hope you’ll give Bull Shoals Lake a try!

Didn't they stock some of those below Bull Shoals dam? No wait, they were golden trout. 😀 -
I have not had any issues with the prostate so far, so I don't have any advice. But whatever route you take, you have my best wishes for a good recovery!
-
Next time out, I am trying it. Thanks for the tip!
-
Are you using a half Zinker as a jig trailer? That's not fair to the fish. 😃 I have to try that, good idea.
-
Big M Facebook page says they are open Thursday-Monday 9-4. I'd call to confirm 417.271.3853. A bit of a haul from SK, 7-8 miles by water maybe?
-
Man, you CRUSHED them!
-
I should've long armed the fish, they look tiny. Thanks for the trip Dutch, another great day to be fishing!
-
Bigger than my best five put together today. There was an early Ned bite, then I could not get thing the last 3 hours I fished.
-
They are catching them up the Kings river on TR right now. Not up the river, but in the river arm.

You're scaring me Bill, soon as I finish my coffee I am heading out.
