  3. Looks like it was published this summer. I have not read it, but may pick it up. Description in the link: Ozarks Book Series - Ozarks Studies Institute - Missouri State
  4. I tuned into the game and saw a snowy field and thought I had the wrong game. Looked like it snowed pretty good up there. Close game, but once again the Hogs come up short.
  5. Wow, that's a lot of species, congrats!
  6. I've ice fished a few times when I lived up north. Even then I had my standards, if it was below 20 I wasn't going.
  7. They have some in "Table Rock Craw" color. I had to grab a few of them. Looks like it will catch fish.
  8. At first I thought that was an eagles nest you were pointing at. Man, a lot of water came through there.
  9. Met up with Dutch today, we put in at 0830 trying to time it to when it was above freezing, but it was 28 degrees when we launched. It got up above freezing shortly thereafter, but it was a chilly morning. We really caught the spotted bass, 91 give or take a couple. Not sure how many were keepers, probably a dozen or so. We measured a couple that were 16.5 inches and they were our biggest fish. Fortunate to know a couple of places where they've been hanging around. Catching them all in 20-30 FOW over gravel dragging 3.3 and 3.8 swimbaits on 1/4 and 3/8 oz heads. We fish them slow, keeping them close to the bottom, get too far off the bottom and it gets tough to get bites. Not one largemouth or smallmouth did we catch. I caught a 12" walleye on a drop shot, but that was the only fish we caught that was not a spotted bass. I know of a couple of other people that fished today and they caught them too. Spoons and jigs are working for them fishing those offshore schools. Dutch tried a spoon for a bit, but no hits on it. WT 60-61, but that should change, looks like a cold snap is moving in.
  10. The orange Wart was a thing for back trolling for steelhead in the rivers.
  11. You have to wonder if it will do any good as long as the blues are still around.
  12. Don't forget Table Rock Craw. I'm surprised no one has come up with an Arkansas Craw color. šŸ˜„
  13. They are biting right now, key is locating them. When you find them, they'll bite. WT 60-62 today.
  14. I might come over there for a day, depends on driving conditions. Is Brett doing a fish fry?
  15. Next time you see Phil ask him about the brown bears in Alaska.
  16. I remember this attack - I used to fish the Kalama when I lived there, so it caught my attention at the time. WDFW searching for cougar, alerting residents after Kalama River angler accosted | Washington Department of Fish & Wildlife
  17. Hard to tell by the pics, but looks pretty scrawny, might be a youngster that got kicked out of another cats territory. Washington had a population of a couple thousand, and with all the time I spent in the outdoors hunting and fishing, two times I caught a glimpse of what I thought might have been a lion. 30 years ago you could hunt them with dogs in Washington, PETA types ended that, they can still be hunted, but pretty tough to get one without dogs. A handful get shot every year by deer and elk hunters. So now that they aren't hunted enough to keep the population under control, they can be a problem.
  18. Looks to be true. Mountain lion killed by Missouri deer hunter, investigation underway
  19. Hey Devan - Did you use the ladders or fish off the bank? Does not look like anyone else is around either.
  20. They have them on sale for $3.75 at Lurenet.com.
  21. Thanks for the trip Dutch! It was a slow day. Nice day however, saw 72 degrees on the way home.
  22. Another warm November day, when I hit the road in the afternoon it was 72 degrees. If you like to fish in the dirt, you can take a left out of Big M, head down lake a few miles and you've got brown water. Stay around Big M or head upriver and it is relatively clear. The fish are biting if you can find them. I caught a few spots in the Big M cove on a top water before I launched the boat. Once in the water, found a good-sized school of spots on some flats, caught some there on small swimbaits, Ned rig, and jig. Called some friends of mine that were on the water, they came over and caught close to 50 of them on spoons and jigs. All spots with a few keepers mixed in. I had some fun with that school but wanted to try some other places to see if they were holding fish. Found a few here and there on the crank bait and finesse jigs. Caught my best bass of the day, a 3 lb. LM, on the crank bait. One of those days where I got a lot of bites but had trouble hooking them or keeping them on once hooked. Can't explain it, it wasn't like they were hard bites to detect but just could not turn them into fish in the boat. I bet I missed 20-30 bites. Had fish chase baits back to the boat, had one that came out of the water after a ned right as I lifted it out of the water. caught it out of the corner of my eye, so didn't get a good look, but it was a smallmouth, crazy fish they are at times. One of the crank bait fish had 3 of his buddies follow him to the boat, had that happen a few times when fishing the spotted bass school. Fun day, lots of action, put 22 with 4 keepers in the boat, but should've boated more. WT 63-64
  23. 63-64 yesterday on the upper White.
  24. Love those smallies!
