  1. I bought a nice big cabin tent and nice air mattresses last summer. Big enough to stand up in, good airflow. Spring the extra for Electric site and plug in a good fan for air. Time the trip for a nice weekend with cooler nights. Camp on ridge away from bugs. Build a nice fire and all should be well. Makes them forget about the room. But if its going to be in the 80's at nite and the campground is in the bottom ground with no air movement, better find a room somewhere. She will sour up at ya.
  2. Might work. Ram's loving fish will bite them out of spite.
  3. Bob Barker used to say it well, spay and neuter your pets. If you are going to own them, don't make more of them than you can take care of. It was always a problem when I grew up in the country. And the ones that seemed to get dumped were always found in the chickens or chasing other livestock. Y'all know what the sentence was for that.
  4. Seems ironic, that can't seem to raise enough of them to stock the rivers or get them big enough to make them worthwhile in the Parks.
  5. Bad omen today while eating my Egg Drop Soup at my favorite Yummy Buffet. Reached for a napkin and saw this. You can't make this stuff up, it was on all of the napkin boxes.
  6. 2019 was the most pitiful year for fishing for me in a long time. Wet rainy spring in Mo. Major flooding on the Tn River jacked things up down there. Timing and days off always seemed to put me on the water the day after anything would bite and the fish would have lockjaw until time to leave for home. First trip of the new year fell on Feb 1. Headed out to Tn and the Tennessee River. Timing was right. Water was right. Weather was cold but still pre front. Fishing backwater and sloughs, breaks in current with slack water. Big TRD's were the lure to have, but did pick up several on a tube jig. Very few dinks, fish were between 15 and 21 inches. 4lb 7oz smallie by a buddy. Several 3 lb fish and larger until the sun popped out about 2, then it slowed down.
  7. While sitting outside today waiting to bust the ole groundhog with the new 6.5 before he could stick his head out on the nice sunny 65 degree day, I had a thought. Get a jump on the garden. Ran to town and picked up some topsoil and topped off one of the raised beds. Cleaned off the others. Planted lettuce, spinach, and snow peas. I was given some clear sheathing panels from a tear down. Planning to use them to build a green house at the farm, but I put 2 of them to good use today along with some sheets of clear plastic from another tear out. Makes a nice little cover for the bed I fixed today. Bees were out today in force. Coons have been bugging them of the night, declared war on it. Have it on the game camera, but it will not trap. Smart one. But cold weather is coming back soon. Ground hog must have seen his shadow somewhere...
  8. It could have went either way. And they missed a spot the first time which led to the second surgery and radiation. But, they were following the standard treatment protocol. I declined the chemo personally based on the info they provided me with the effects and benefits. Now, 2 years later it has been determined to be not beneficial for the type I had and not used for treatment. But, overall, I am happy with my surgeon and radiation therapy, they did the best job they could. People are more likely to die in a hospital because there was something wrong that put them there in the first place. Or they caught something that another sick person was spreading or left behind.
  9. Hospitals kill alot of people. They never seem to list that as the cause of death though.
  10. No offense, but was just pointing out that a person will eat anything to survive. my feeding tube went thru the nose, I could smell the crap going in. It reminded me of a ground feed mix we fed hogs as a kid. Read the label, sure enough, about the same grain mix. Read an article the other day, if we survive to 2050, population growth will have us eating bugs to survive. Conventional farming will not sustain food demands.
  11. Kydex is the new leather. Melt it in the oven and trim to fit. Does not hold moisture and tougher too.
  12. 33 deaths in Arkansas so far this month due to the regular flu. https://www.4029tv.com/article/33-deaths-flu-arkansas/30701208# Death reports only list the last cause of death. The majority of deaths may be sick or elderly, or immune comprised adults or children. If you are wheezing and many pounds over weight, smoking a cig and sitting around all day not moving, catch the flu and die, you are a statistic as a flu death. But, what was the actual cause? It does not reflect on healthy, average people that may just feel bad for a while and the virus runs its course and its over.
  13. I still live on that line where it wants to snow, but ends up as squishy rain drops.
  14. I fill my feeders twice a week. 2 clear towers with black oil sunflower and 2 other feeders with wild bird mix beefed up with sunflower. 2 suet feeders and scattered peanuts on the ground. Cats love my yard for some reason.
  15. You would rather die than eat. Try not being able to eat. A cold turd that provides nourishment tastes pretty good. Radiation killed my ability to eat, and killed my taste. Amazing what you will do to survive when you have lost a third of your body weight.
  16. Nice job, look forward to the rest of it
  17. Looks like it zeroed you in....
  18. Prayers for the family over there, hope things turn out well. I am sure we will be dealing with it soon.
  19. Just got the email from Johnny Morris on it. Jerry McKinnis passed last year. Ozark Greats..
  20. I like the water temp feature. We have been watching a stream to fish this weekend. We hit a good pattern in winter when temp were 43 or less. Rain brought river up some, but water temp went way up. I am banging on a tablet instead of in a jet boat right now.
  21. Might be slick on the rocks, especially if cfs is high.....
  22. Height of water means most to me, I have short legs.
  23. Its dark out my back door when I get up and come home each day still.....
  24. Depends on the area. Trophy trout management area, no. Fish have to be whole to identify and measure.
  25. Heck, I thought you had died and was posting from the other side.................. I am a good neighbor too.
