I bought a pair for the jet boat at Wally World, around $50. Rubber boot with neoprene upper. I toss them in for winter fishing in case we stuff it and need to get out deeper than just Muck's. If I am going to be in and out, I put the waders on.
I think the wind was telling me this weekend. My fishing buddy feels the need to tell me how to run the boat from the back seat. Its his old stick steer boat and he still feels the need to be in the front of the boat all of the time. Now he wants the back pointed to the fishing all of the time.
When was last time you saw an agent?
Pulled out of local CA lake with grandson last month, pulled up next to one sitting in truck doing computer work. We piddled around for twenty minutes putting stuff up. He just drove off, did not check fish or license.
I have not run across any snakes this summer at the farm other than a few water snakes in the branch by the foot bridge near the house. I did dispatch a nasty black rat snake that was trying to make a home in the farm truck. Its back was full of open, bleeding sores from head to tail. I did put it out of its misery. Some kind of virus going around attacking Herps too. Maybe Covid gets them.
Bush hogging has not stirred up anything this season so far.
I still have a collection of Wob L Rites in the box, both smooth and hammered. Copper and gold. They used to be killer. Great fluttering action. Little fishing shop in the old Call of the Wild in Poplar Bluff had them on paper cards. Each had marker prices on them.
They have been stocking pretty good from reports. Crawdad cranks and rooster tails work for me. They have cleared both sides of river now and are developing more houses. Not much to look at any more.
The world always needs another campground. Might as well crap up another small stream in MO.
Water was low up there. Watched the fireworks at Terre Du Lac last nite myself. Did not bother fishing.
I figured you were at Whitten, only place with a camper mess. I am really surprised the let them in there, it really jacks up the only boat ramp on the river.
The only time I see Turners Mill, it's from the water. I never drive down to that access any more.
They usually stock it pretty good for the holiday. More fish in the river makes the others hungry and bite better.
I am heading down next Sunday for a Mon-Tues jet boat run.
Monkeypox!
Castor River rose about a foot this weekend. All the lawn chairs, bloated bodies, and side by sides sitting in the water. Meanwhile, I am at the farm with the deer in total solitude. Peaceful here
I remember having a good time on the rivers myself. A long time ago when you would only see a few boats or innertubes.
Still can have it, just Fall and Winter and Early Spring.
Had a shard of something in it last week on my only trip/only fish of June to Clearwater Lake, slow leak. Tires were ok, but had been looking since April for new 5.30-12's. Ordered online and waiting for delivery. Plugged the hole and took off. Made it 10 miles.
The farm has been keeping me busy and doing work of 5 people at work. Jobsites scattered all over states and a million dollars of product to manage this year. Commercial buildings going up all over.
I remember a time when I used to enjoy summer. Had a blow out on way to lake yesterday, changed it on a bright sunny lot around noon. Soaked with sweat, I changed my mind about fishing. We were gonna try afternoon catfish.
I am probably done till 11 Pt trip on the 11 th
