Thinking about the dark side, maybe a low res ffs unit to see what is in front of my boat instead of under, in back, out the sides. Has anyone tried the new entry level Lowrance Eagle Eye 9" unit with FFS Sonar??

Does anyone remember the guy with the signs upstream of the access in the Catch and Release portion of the Norfork below the dam and above the White River? He had "Shooting Range" signs and was rumored to be a bad a screwing with people wading around his property. That was back before CCW days and I just packed heat because I might need to shoot a snake. Never saw him, but caught my best Brown there on a fly rod, 25". That was mid 90's. I think it is Ackerman or River Ridge now, but it was something else back then. Tom Hargrove dropped my truck off there one time during the fall fly fest in Mountain Home and I floated thru in my 8' inflatable pontoon. They kicked the generators on about half way and I got to test the rockers on my whitewater rated rig. Never even went to town to see the festival, fishing was too good.

Kinda looked like inbred stupidity to me. Lots of that affliction going on now days........... When I confront a trespasser, I am blunt and direct. They are usually trespassing or lost and realize they are wrong. I do not have to even display a weapon. They always back down and start coming up with excuses, somebody told them it was ok, they are lost, etc, used to come here as a kid, blah blah blah. But my posture and body language has worked so far. They have retreated and seem to realize I own the place. But I always start with "Hello, who are you?" I own both side of a stream, but never run into fishermen. Its always hunters. And the others looking for something. I get names, have game cam pics of license plates, and a good network to find out who and what they are up to. One of my best lines "I don't allow hunting, we are running active traplines on my property." That lets them know there are dangers for their dogs and someone is always around to check on things...

I saw a shoal runner sunk on the Gasconade last summer tied off to a dock off a step washed out bank that needed one. Tow truck driver was scratching his head on it.

From the bridge into the water. MDC agents have stated that the county has no rights off the pavement other than to post signs. That denies land access to stream or parking. MDC access is wholly owned by state to provide public access. Harassing a hunter is illegal. Harassing a fisherman I don't know. That's a thin area because you are sharing waters used for recreation by others.

If its a real sleep study, it may make a difference. Never know what may be haunting a person.

a legal bridge access Not always the case, unless you jump off the bridge into the water. Highways have easements for the roads, but that does not allow access to all. Ran into that in Madison County on the Castor and Butler County on the Little Black and found out that legality. Brandishing a firearm and shooting into a stream does bring up a few laws against him if you recorded that....

Broke ground on a bigger garden this year today at the farm. Its almost the size of what we had growing up. Double what I had out there last year. Sun and wind had it dried out good enough to plow. Should be composted well by late April. Snow was on ground for Valentines Day, did not and have not even tried to dry out my raised beds, too busy. Maybe this week if I beat the rain.

No glue, just screws. All pegs are tight fit and removable. There are runs from the Polyurethane and the pegs lean some because I free handed the drill instead of using a drill press. But he loved it and put his stuff to work today.

When I retire and have more time, woodworking is just another of those hobbies that can come to the front burner. I did it with Dad at the farm on winter days around the wood stove when nothing else was going on. He made several benches and tables, odds and ends. He would weld old used horseshoes and make wall hangers, hat and coat racks, towel holders, etc. We always had an abundance of those in a pile where they kept the horses shod. There will be beehives to make in the coming months as the evenings grow longer after work. I have made most of my bee equipment except for the frames. Those little cuts are better off done by a factory. I like working with cedar, but don't like the dust in my sinuses. Normally I am outside and plenty of air, but Sunday the wind was putting it back up my nose. Radiation took away most of my mucus, so it stays in place longer and does not flush out. Should have wore a mask.

Grandson turns 16 this week. Already bought him his Lifetime Conservation Partnership and have him on his way to fly fishing and fly tying. His skills took off this fall and winter tying, so I gave him a good dose of materials and feathers. Dad and I usually did woodworking projects during the winter months on the farm. So, I decided to make a tying table for Grandson this month. It started with cedar harvested on the farm and air dried for several years in a shed. A chainsaw trip this weekend around the place for some unique pieces of wood with the Grandson. And a few stories and some woodworking with him in my new shop that I have created the last few years on the farm since Dad left. Before I took over, it was woodworking in a Grain Silo with finish saws and tools and wood heat. Table saws, planer, and a radial arm saw in the old hog farrowing house converted to tool shed and the wood storage. And mechanical tools in the old chicken house converted to garage for drill press and misc tools. We had plenty of exercise running back and forth to complete a project. Tools were scattered all over. New shop in basement has newer tools, all in one place, and looks out over all of the old stuff. Cedar boards harvested from the farm went into this. Thread spool holder is a cutting off the Sasafras tree that blew down in June and quite aromatic. Stills smells fragrant of Sasafras. A few other parts and pieces, some sanding and Polyurethane and its a done deal. Tool holders, drying rack, magnetic and foam hook holders, bead and hook tray nicely laid out for fly production.

Most of us go out and fish public waters, fish feeders would be considered chumming and against the rules. Might have a limited crowd source of knowledge on here regarding fish feeders on private ponds.

Looks more like a Marlin to me. Nice open casting deck. Whats the length on that one? Been in salt?

Armadillo Trap? You can't bait a live trap and get them to go in, I have dropped conibears over their holes and they were never triggered, and the V shaped fence never worked. Firearms are the only solution. I broke in a short barrel AR 22 a few weeks back on 4 of them one afternoon.

I miss felt soles.

Shirt and jeans today, no extra layers. First time in a while, made it to 50 degrees...

Speaking of Freaky Weather, flash flood last Sat nite at farm. Rained upstream and creek rose about 10 feet. Woke to this Sunday morning and only had my little Bauer 10" chainsaw. Took a neighbor with backhoe from other side and me on my little tractor to get it off.

You could have stood on the pond today and teased him thru the ice... Tonite is supposed to be our cold one, then 60 by Monday. Made it to 19 today and no wind, I was getting hot outside in the nice warm sunshine. But slipping around all over on the ice where the snow melt happened yesterday.

I have a bunch of stamps from my childhood, doubt if they are worth much more than face value. Much like my football cards.

But you will miss the bluegill bite in early summer. Caught a nice on down by the drain spigot one time on a popper. Lake was clear and I spotted him just suspended there. Dropped the bug on him and could barely grip him to get him off. Used to catch record longears on the creek that dumps in before you hit Mary Decker Shoals too.

Do they even make 100 packs anymore? Most squander them out in 15 or 25 packs..
