Finally broke the ice, 12" smallie in Tennessee on my new Tackle HD Helgrammite. NO pic, cameras buried in dry bag.
15 degrees when I rolled out at 3 am yesterday. Guides were still iceing up at 9 when we hit water. Fishing tributary off TN River in jet boat. Pattern for the last few trips was TRD California Craw in backwater at edge of main currents where the water was a little warmer. I put on the Helgrammite, same size and almost the same color, but with a little more action on the paddle tail. Texas rigged with 3/16 oz weight. Seemed to do the trick, but they were going after the TRD color better. It was slightly darker.''
Spent the day catching a few more, nothing to write home about. Nice cool day for a jet boat ride.
Love the new lure, should work out when the water warms up some. Temps yesterday were hovering between 46 and 50, about a 50/50 split between largemouth and smallies.
