  1. Who needs Miracle Grow, the manure getting spread is stacking up. Did not know there was a race on sprouts, but my spinach or lettuce popped up yesterday. I started lettuce and spinach in one group of pots Friday Night. Picked up another round of pots and started snow peas in them on Sunday. I did get my raised bed covered before this new swamp fest rolling thru. Maybe the ground will be dry enough to stick them outside soon. Downpour out now.
  2. I can say most mud motors I have seen put out quite a bit of noise above the waterline. I have often wondered why they don't muffle them more. I would think noise would be a deterrent to any game that one pursues above and below the waterline.

Not really a Leash Law, animal owner fails to control his animal leads to an animal abuse complaint. As a pet owner, it is your responsibility to attend to your pets. If they stray and cause harm to another land owner, its a case of animal abuse and the animal owner is at fault. I have seen it in action several times in my subdivision. Neighbor shot a weiner dog that attempted to bite his kid while the owner was at church. Weiner dog made it thru the doggy door into the floor in front of couch before he bled out and died. Neighbor came home from church and found it, started throwing the monkey my way. Guy who shot the dog fessed up, fight ensued, Deputies arrived. Wrote the dog owner a ticket for animal abuse.

If things had went a different direction, none of us would be hunting on Tribal Lands.
  5. Fish have to eat and they are always wet and in current. Toss out a heavy bait and see what happens.

In a way, they do limit the tags available. In my county, you are only allowed 1 firearm deer, no additional antlerless tags. Neighboring counties allow a second tag. On the other hand, MDC went from wildlife management to Trophy Sportsman managers with the antler point restrictions. They started promoting the big game hunter appeal instead of just trying to regulate the population of the herd. Personally, it is my opinion that deer have exceeded the carrying capacity of most of their areas and rampant disease like blue tongue and cwd is the way nature will step in to control the overpopulation.

Do the deer come from your property and stay on your property their entire lives? Nope, they are the State's Deer just like the fish in streams are the State's Fish. And they have to keep track of them.
  8. About 3" sleet now and still coming down. May be sticking maters in ground by the time this all thaws out. Those pots have been sitting in the closet for a while, might as well dust them off and put them to use. No germination taking place outdoors for a while.

They still have to be tagged with something to keep people honest and legal. And the biologists can track the harvest too.
  10. Tried to get the beds dried out this week and covered, did not happen. But Billethead gave me the idea, I have jiffy pots and stuff to start lettuce inside. May do that tonight with the sleet downpour coming down tonight.
  11. MDC tried something like that a few years ago to thin out the Smallmouth populations. They tagged a bunch of fish and announced a survey. Catch a tagged fish and receive a cash reward. It worked well, smallmouth vanished from the Castor River and other areas I used to fish.
  12. You need a bigger tape measure.
  13. I read an article in local paper this week about an Elk Farm. Owner claims that Elk in MO are CWD Free. Seems like they may be managing it better than Deer Farmers. Or it may just be the fact that there are many more deer farms than elk. I see many more deer than quail any more. The population seems to be thriving despite the disease.
  14. Finally broke the ice, 12" smallie in Tennessee on my new Tackle HD Helgrammite. NO pic, cameras buried in dry bag. 15 degrees when I rolled out at 3 am yesterday. Guides were still iceing up at 9 when we hit water. Fishing tributary off TN River in jet boat. Pattern for the last few trips was TRD California Craw in backwater at edge of main currents where the water was a little warmer. I put on the Helgrammite, same size and almost the same color, but with a little more action on the paddle tail. Texas rigged with 3/16 oz weight. Seemed to do the trick, but they were going after the TRD color better. It was slightly darker.'' Spent the day catching a few more, nothing to write home about. Nice cool day for a jet boat ride. Love the new lure, should work out when the water warms up some. Temps yesterday were hovering between 46 and 50, about a 50/50 split between largemouth and smallies.
  15. Wally World sells a pair in the fishing Dept. Work good an come with hook sharpner on cover.
  16. I don't think it ever received funding for development.
  17. Having more than one woman is always harmful. Usually leads to drinking and loss of sleep.
  18. The political affiliations of the bill tend to lean to the left of right. Are they attacking carP? Taking wildlife for entertainment. I am guilty. Have a few hours to kill, have to go kill something.
  19. 10' should work. I would go with a sit on top. Easier to get out and wade or drop a leg over and hold a foot on something to anchor. Sit on top gets you up higher to cast and see the fish. https://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/heritage-angler-10-10-ft-sit-on-top-angler-kayak#repChildCatid=5098536 I have two of these, one for me and the grandson. We are about the same build. Paddle great, stable, and can carry enough for a day on any stream or lake. Light weight and easy to portage or lift onto racks on a SUV.
  20. Academy Sports has many good ones that are affordable. Get a 12' one at least. If you are a big guy, maybe longer.
  21. Park it somewhere and forget? Need help finding it?
  22. This just topped it.
  23. Funniest thing I have came across today. As a kid, I wanted to play drums. I am a great Air Drummer, Rush will get me to beating a tune out on the steering wheel every time. Came across this today and thought of so many one liners. I am sure glad they have that Arts thing at the Campus that shaped my future. Its so organic?? Drum One, Drum All, Southeast to Host a Drum Circle.
  24. All this from a guy with a wife that won't let him buy a real boat. Some where in time PW must have happened.
  25. I just Carolina Rig them when in woody structure. Works good for me. Bass Pro Tender Tubes are softer and are pretty easy to bite thru but still stay weedless, snag free with a Carolina Rig. I rig a short Flourocarbon setup with a lead 1/4 oz bell sinker and a # 4 Gamakatsu hook. I miss a few but i get snagged less. Otherwise, I use a 1/4" lead head tube jig hook. Fishing rivers from the boat, we usually can work back up stream and release the snagged hook either way. Deeper lakes require a breakoff.
