  1. My first boat was a 15' Budwiser plastic canoe. Then a 17' Grumman canoe.
  2. Grrrr. Just lost the TV. Free HBO and Skinamax this weekend.
  3. I guess I have held many a record fish in my lifetime. I all depends on the method what makes them a record now.
  4. What is sad is that kids even have to worry about any of it. They should be worry free. It is the parents job to make and keep them secure.
  5. No need for stricter gun laws, only the ones that are sane and obey the laws abide by them. Just like all the other laws including the one about "thou shalt not kill". Cut the publicity out. Quit making each shooting an ordeal. It just stokes others to try the same things. Growing up, we had 30 minutes of local news and 30 minutes of national news at 5 pm and 10 pm with a morning show. 3 channels. News blurbs on the radio at sporatic times. Daily Newspapers. Now, hundreds of channels to funnel it 24/7, the internet, radio, satellite, and even a newspaper or 2 still. Everything gets sensationalized. Growing up, arguments were settled with a fist fight as a kid. Now, even talking bad about another kid will bring down severe punishment. That leads to them taking more drastic measures. The internet and kids has had a negative effect on them in so many ways. Raise your kids right, love them every minute you can, and pray things work out.
  6. A record fish for 10 minutes will always be a record fish. I have seen those that beat their own records.
  7. Wonder what the state record is for smallmouth bass on a gig is?
  8. Add gunsmith to your accomplishments...
  9. I have used Torpedos for years with great success. Tossed a few of the newer frog plastics too. Trouble is, since the otters have eat all of the frogs out of the streams, fish have forgot what they are and do not recognize them as food.
  10. So I may be on to something. Time will tell, strong front coming in Friday and planning a day out on Sat. Most I have tyed so far have been on the large side, I am working on smaller ones now. Marabou, artic fox, and some kind of goat hair that flows well. That artic fox when wet looks pretty good. May do a few shad in craft fur to test also.
  11. Depends on depth, fishing from boat with 10' road. Probably use slip bobbers.
  12. More patterns. What about it crappie guys, will they catch a crappie?
  13. I miss his posts. He spent alot of time on the Spring River. I never ran into him there, but met some of his kin once.
  14. Lots of articles on it. It may just be a southern thing. I catch river smallies on the fly and tyed a jig up of my favorite river fly also. Still have some shad colors to go, just started with the most popular ones according to one article. Ice here today, house bound for sure. Was going to hit a gunshow with Dad but no way I am going 150 miles one way on these roads. Another full day of tying in store for me.
  15. Length times Girth times Width, subtract the photoshop average, multiply the Facebook value, Tweet it, copy it, fantisize about it. It is still a carp that gets fat cause nobody fishes for it.
  16. Like the Fishing Cricket, he has gone from the forum for a long time. I was doing a search for "portable fly tying boxes" and he popped up on a post from 09 in a wood working forum. He used to be a major player on here.
  17. Last boring weekend of year, I hope. Been doing research on TN smallies in winter and came across the Float N Fly. Lots of articles so I am not going into detail. After dropping some coin on rod, rigging, jigs, and new tying material. May even catch a mess of crappie to eat also. Lookout Pickwick. It has been a long time since I tyed a jig. I think the last was a custom order from a crappie guy back in early 90's.
  18. Did not see that on the news.
  19. If a problem develops, eliminate the problem. I have all kinds of critters too but only for a short time. Electric fence work for deer. Traps and firearms for most others. 4' chicken wire keeps bunnies out.
  20. It should be easy enough. A drop of blue loctite should keep it from falling apart again.
  21. Good luck with that. I asked Bass Pro for a wiring diagram on my 08 Crappie Pro. The technician said it sure would be nice to have if one existed. Documentation on Tracker boats need to improve. I would really like to see what is under the deck before I run a self tapper for something. The factory transducer even had a screw thru the wire. The installers dont have a clue where wires run.
  22. Get a bigger gun
  23. You may need to go to Ruger on that one. Spring #5 is what you are missing. You may be able to make one out of a ball point pen. Brownells may have one. https://www.gunpartscorp.com/gun-manufacturer/ruger/revolvers-ruger/old-mdl-bearcat
  24. What did you get, what did you get????
  25. I have shot a bearcat many times. I love the little six shooter and was due to inherit one from my uncle. But his family took it. I think there is a spring in it. Have to look at a parts explosion to see what all is there. You should find one online or I can look tonight.
