  1. Spoonbill are plankton filter feeders and small insect larva, they are as clean as the water they are in. Catfish too for the most part. Suckers, carp, and other bottom feeders tend to accumulate the poisons and heavy metals from the bottom of the streams they feed on and are not as healthy to eat.

  3. I also saw they are going to start a fund for his wife, she will not be eligible for his retirement benefits for a few more years. If I see more, I will post it. This really scares the hell out of me. The docs have all talked about side effects, but have never mentioned fatal. They have always led me to believe it was easily curable with a high success rate. They also let me believe that it was a slow growing cancer. This makes me think otherwise and opens up a whole new conversation dialog with my docs.
  4. Found this on Illinoissmallmouthalliance forum. It was from his wife 3 days ago. Long time ISA Member Norm Minas, has been dealing with cancer for a while now. Recently, his wife posted this update on Norm's health. "This is so hard. This is Norm's wife....winner of all arguements and the one that gets sh*t done. Unfortunately Norm's cancer has spread to his lung. Had it not been for me argueing with the docs, they would not have sent him to the hospital. There they discovered he had pnuemnia blood clots and fluid surronding his lung. That's when the found the cancer has spread. He is now in a nursing home being made comfortable. And if that wasn't bad enough, he is suffering from dementia. That came out of nowhere. So in a matter of 3 yes 3 weeks he has gone from the love of my life to a bag of bones who doesn't remember his children and me occasionally. Now we just wait until his body has no fight left. Soon he'll be catching all the smallies he ever wanted" Our thought's and prayers go out to Norm and his family.
  5. Oh man, I thought he was kicking it. We were on the same path, same cancer, he was a few months behind me on treatments. He was having complications due to other health problems. My last messages to him was when he saw the results of my PET test and possible cancer return on Nov 18. He was feeling good and in better shape from the chemo and radiation than I was as far as side effects. Something else may have got him, the treatment is a stress on all body organs.
  6. That one should work just fine. I have it on my Gamo Maxxim 22 and like it.
  7. Like I said. The liberal killing is needed to control the population and protect the breeding grounds for all other waterfowl. I do agree the piles of carcasses do not promote a sporting image most believe in. But there are those that use social media in ways I don't approve of daily. It does tend to project the wrong image.
  8. Sky Carp...... You could lay out a hundred fields like that and only improve the other Waterfowl.
  9. I have always had good luck with Pyramid. Good variety and service.
  10. Mama was a slut hanging out with other trashy ducks. Green head and blue wing counts as a mallard in your quiver of 4 max. But it has got other genes.
  11. I like the trails, they are like little shortcuts to get me away from the crowds. If they could train them not to use the trails for pooping, it would be even better. They tend to be better walking than the trails made by the herds of fishermen that plow down each side of the banks and drop all kinds of trash along the way.
  12. What about around the fittings for live wells or aerators, I have seen those leak from time to time. Most made out of plastic and vibrations shake them loose.
  13. I never keep bass. Those little black mussel worms make the meat taste like carp.
  14. Beware some of the internet do it yourself trigger fixes. I fubarred a Stoeger a few years back based on a common internet post on how to tune one of their triggers. Charlie da tuna is a reputable one.
  15. He should be able to finish him off with a head shot before he limps away on 3 legs.
  16. Does your scope lack the AO adj on the front scope bell? Ever y pellet gun scope needs it to adj for short ranges.
  17. Sweet. I have never seen anyone work one, it looks like fun. I did read a Arkansas Game and Fish release a few years back that brought a chuckle. Falconry season opens next week. Hunting with Falcons is legal, hunting falcons is not allowed. Seems like there must be some confusion south of our border.
  18. Suckers must be thick there. I can't seem to catch any where I fish. I do manage a trout now and then, but never a sucker.
  19. Thanks to this thread I was keeping sharp yesterday. We ran boat to shore to take a leak. After that was done, 2 of the group decides to explore a hillside cut along the railway tracks along the river. I looked back over the shoulder and notice the wind had drifted the boat loose. I hopped onboard and anchored it again, the other 2 oblivious to what had just happened. I was also the only one wearing waders yesterday when we hit a shallow riffle and had to push the boat off. It would have been a cold day for one of us if I did not think ahead and wear waders.
  20. My wife will get dirt. Plain ole graveyard dirt.
  21. Obviously, there were no fisherman on this research expedition.
  22. My buddy is the kind of guy you like Wrench. He seems to jack his boats up every time we use them. I feel sorry and drag my along just to give his wallet a rest every now and then.
  23. I have never had an issue with the Kentuckies. We had a great day on the TN River out of Saltillo about a month ago catching them. They seem to get along with the other bass in that system.
  24. https://www.livescience.com/61206-ancient-fishhooks-found-in-burial.html Amazing, fish hooks found in an ancient grave of a woman in Indonesia. This is the earliest evidence of fish hooks in a grave burial found to date. They go on and on about it and they try to connect it to a woman of stature and its importance to history. I have a different theory. We may have found the first sport fisherman, her husband. He may have been in such a hurry to get her in the ground and buried so he could get back to fishing and dropped a few hooks doing it. Maybe she was royalty and worth alot. He inherited her wealth and had so much fishing gear he made her a necklace just to show her how much he loved her out of it......
  25. If mine was on a lift, it would get used weekly. Unfortunately, its an hour to ok fishing for me and 4-5 hours for good fishing. Mine sits and waits alot.
