  1. Learning to shoot with the off hand is a tough one. When Doc attacked my right arm with a surgical procedure, I did not have a choice. I was left with weak left hand and not another. I soon found out Smith and Wesson had prepared the pistol for me, the safety on the 6906 is on both sides. Reloads are tough one handed. Same issue with a revolver, they can be shot easily with either hand, but designed to reload with a right hand. And it opened up both my eyes to shooting instead of the old one eye sight picture. I was not as accurate, but defensively functional.
  2. Those could have been trained and licensed. AD's can be lowered by using guns with better safeties. I have never been a fan of safe action triggers, they can snag on something and go off.
  3. 2 months into Constitutional Carry, no major gun battles in the streets. I have not seen a story involving a concealed carry problem. Looks like it is going to work as planned. Responsible people acting responsible.
  4. We will see a frost, maybe. But not a hard freeze. Did not make it above 65 here in SEMO today. Winds were changing around dark and clouding up. I always thought nature cycled due to amounts of daylight. But it seems that temps seem to come into play also.
  5. Just saying, temps are avg in the 50's now and its only Feb a good 2 months early from peak. Its looking like it may be a goofy season. Its been way too dry this winter. Grass is already greening up here. Easter Flowers are blooming as well as those pink Magnolia trees. Buds on my Bradford Pears are big as my little finger. Looking out across the bottoms today and small shrubbery is greening up.
  6. I had to pic Bass Boat up at Doniphan Sat. and really wanted to fish the 11PT. Tried to talk fishing buddy into pulling Jet Boat over for the day. We ended up at Spring River instead and waded from Bayou up past the big falls. I ended up with 12 small trout, nothing impressive, but fun. Looks like we made the wrong turn. We did manage a short hike that morning at the Narrows, he had never been into the springs from the hillside access. 30 years of fishing that river together and we still manage to see something new in the area most every trip.
  7. They beech about them too.
  8. He never said anything about eating them, just gigging them. Catch and Release?
  9. Maybe its polluted with political runoff. Needs to be cleansed of the toxic waste so citizens don't carry it out on their shoes.
  10. Or have a phone that the app works on. Or have a good enough signal or strong enough battery to bring it up. The way I was told, you don't need to carry the paper. I assume you can show ID and let the man look it up for you. I still carry a Blackberry. It runs a protected Android OS and does not use Google Play Store for apps. I was able to sideload the app and get it to work, but it has issues updating. My Spring Turkey Tag did not show up until season was over and it was expired. But the fall stuff came across ok. In over 50% of the areas I fish and hunt, ATT deems it not necessary for a cell phone signal, so the phone stays in truck. And so the license is not on my person.
  11. You can only view the card. You need a card reader or media slot on your computer. I don't think they make a pc to nav unit connection other than wireless in the Waymarine units.
  12. And they all smoked tobacco.
  13. How can any piece of ground be unfit to hike?
  14. Thanks.
  15. Don't plan any treks out to the ole Jay Nixon Memorial, looks like it is closed because of some unknown hazards. http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/govt-and-politics/greitens-administration-closes-jay-nixon-state-park/article_1d353f97-8515-5885-9fb3-a1589a413c55.html
  16. 1 year, 2 months, 3 weeks after surgery and day one of cancer free. Went in for a checkup today, Doc stuck a finger in my mouth and felt around for lumps and said everything is still good. Still cancer free and recovered. As usual, he pulled over an intern and showed them what a good job he did. Visits from now on will just be like today unless a lump or bump shows up somewhere. Life is so very good.
  17. 4 months of Chemo and Radiation has brought him to the completion of his treatments. PET and CT scans around Christmas showed the tumor had shrunk to almost nothing. He will undergo some more tests in the following weeks to find out the final verdict. He is in good spirits and has survived the ordeal. His care at Siteman and Barnes went well. I think we have another cancer survivor. Thanks for all of your prayers.
  18. Going to work yesterday, the radio had the daily quiz going. 49% of people think this should happen on Valentines Day. The correct answer was "Get the Day Off". Seriously, a national holiday for it?? Looks like 100 percent on here take it about as serious as it should be taken. Nobody even remembers the original reason, remembering two slain guys named Valentine by the Roman Church.
  19. I called a buddy a while ago to wish him "happy birthday" since Valentine Day is his too. He was eating Mexican at his fav restaurant. I found her a quick way to get her card read.
  20. Just came across this analysis on Fishing Tackle Retailer. http://fishingtackleretailer.com/gander-mountain-reportedly-preparing-for-bankruptcy-what-went-wrong/ I have been to the market in Jackson, TN. At the time, it was a destination stop for me on the way fishing to TN waters. I found some good deals there on fishing and ammo and always walked out with something. But then Academy opened up locally and I stroll thru Gander empty handed.
  21. Valentines Day, a time for lovers and planting early garden. I stopped by the local Dollar General yesterday to find my annual offering to the better half for Valentine's Day. I strolled back to the card isle and find a love sick youth in his early 20's reading each card trying to find just the right one. Not me, I am a seasoned pro. Shacked up with the same woman for 18 years, battle hardened by a nasty divorce, and wounded by many loves lost, I could pick out a card in seconds. Quick glance at the headings at the top of the card shelf, Boyfriend, Girlfriend, Wife, Husband, Transgender, Si Espanoil. Bingo, I will get her a card that requires her to learn Spanish to find out how I truly feel about her this year. She is sooo lucky to have me on this unholy day.
  22. I cleaned off a raised bed after work today and planted some Alaska Snow Peas and 3 types of leaf lettuce. Its Valentines Day tradition.
  23. I like Academy. I picked up a nice auto inflate vest on sale back in the fall for $59, marked down from $89. Same vest everywhere else was $129. I have found they have good prices on ammo and a good supply. Magellan clothing is not too bad either. When they discount Columbia wear, it can get pretty reasonable.
  24. I see a lot less suckers now that gigging is a sport. Suckers should be upgraded to game fish for protection.
  25. I think it is because they are "rough fish", not to be confused with the pretty "game fish" they like to breed and protect.
