Can you shoot squirrels in your back yard naked like billethead? That's open range there.

I don't know what you call local in the area you live in, but I have always like Country Hicks in Cuba, good place to feed on BBQ. Have a pretty good brisket and loin. Nice assortment of various sauces. Dexter MO has a place called Dexter BBQ that makes the best pulled pork with slaw. Their sauce is good too. Thick pork steaks and soft serve ice cream for dessert. They have several other locations in the area in SE Mo., but the Dexter one is the best. Bailee Jo's in the Ironton/Arcadia area has good dry rubbed pork selection, beef brisket, chicken, and a nice assortment of his own sauces. Has some cajun dishes there also. Best ribs made the way I like them come from a Wink's C Store in Gordonville Mo. I will pick a slab up if they have them when I pass thru. And a bag of their homemade potato chips. Good chicken wings also.

There is a nasty flu bug going around now. I caught it the 2 weeks before Christmas, fever, cough, ache. Felt like crap. Started on Weds and by Sat, I broke down and bought a test, negative. Still had taste and smell, at least what is left after surgery and radiation. Went away for about a week then came back with the sporatic cough and sinus issues. Still have it today. About half of the office feeling same way. Still no Covid here in my family yet.

They use that for flies, should be able to find at any fly shop also.

Bulletproof design, I bought one that a customer returned after rabbit season back in 1982. Back then Wally World's return policy was so liberal, some would buy guns for a season and return at end. They could not put it on shelf, but gun manager would sell it on side, paid $80 for it. I used it for waterfowl and rabbits, killed a turkey or two. I did not even own a 12 ga until I went full bore waterfowl in mid 90's. Kids have used it, grandkids now.

St. Louis has its own style, pork butts, pork ribs, chicken, and sometimes brisket. You won't see alot of what you have down south.

Anybody have a portable solar generator?

How does it run on Propane or have you tried it? Looking at a 2500w unit on Home Depot and it has about 46 bad review that all seem to be linked to the dual fuel system. I have an old gas one for outages, been looking for a propane one. Don't have to worry about bad gas or gas sitting in carbs gunking up while stored. -
Back when I was young, Dad and his buddy would take me and a squirrel dog out running old log roads. We would put the dog out and let him work, when he treed, we would hop out and kill the squirrel. Dad and his buddy were having a beer while driving.

I came home early from work today and was piddling around in the yard. Went down to the bee hives to check on them. 3 out of 5 hives had bees popping in and out of them. 2 had no activity. This mid winter warmup normally causes the bees to get out and burn up energy and honey stores. Then when we get a longer winter in the spring, they get trapped away from the honey and starve. Christmas day was 70+ and today was 65 and cloudy. I went back to the house and grabbed a tool and suited up. I had planned a quick check of the two hives. I pulled the entrance reducer out of the first hive and looked under for a dead pile of bees. I found a few live ones milling around the bottom, assume they are normal and just not wanting to get out. The next hive, I popped the entrance reducer out and there were several guarding the opening. They got mad and alerted the rest. Game on, out came a mess of bees, clinging to my sleeves and suit. They are not really peppy this time of year and tend to cling and crawl and not just buzz around. I put the reducer back and bailed out, ducked into the cane thicket I planted years ago for a wind break. Makes a good hiding place to break connection between the guy in the white suit and the hive. And it brushes off the ones that are crawling around. I stayed motionless in there for a while till most gave up then exited back side and angled across yard. I had one single follower, but he gave up after a few yards. I looked down at the sleeves on the white jacket and there were several little stingers poking out of it. As I passed by, there was still a mass of bees on the front of the hive that had came out in defense. Its good to go, strong and protective. Goofy weather, danderlions all over the fields and yards blooming. Iris at the farm is about 6" high. That will all get nipped this weekend.

Poor little psycho squirrel. But thing like that happen when people try to tame wild animals. Our nuttiness reubs off on them. -

I saw new "toy" and airgun used in same sentence. -
I just spent my quarters on the rubber things. The glow in the dark ones make good latex caddis.

Any centerfire works with the law. 22lr is rimfire, thats a no go for deer. Federal has a new Punch 22 for self defense, I have been buying rounds to see how it works. Designed for performance out of a short barrel pistol, which I have several. For light duty carry, I have a Ruger LCP 22, it does not even sag a pair of swim trunks. Normally stoked with CCI Stingers.

It sharpens the pencil in a "grid down" situation. Here, its ice storms, wind, drunks hitting a pole. Someday, it may be Doomsday. Always have a backup plan. The tornado that hit Fredricktown in late October nailed the main headquarters for the Co-Op that provide power for a big chunk of our area. Flattened the maint building and office. We never lost power at either of our locations, but the ability to repair damage by them was hindered. It could have been worse. -
My daughter started out on airguns at 9. Started killing squirrels with me at about 13. Deer came before she graduated. Grandkids are moving up the same way.

All I saw was Billethead got a new popper. He will be running all over the neighborhood nekked popping the Terror Squirrels. Enlighten us, Wrench missed the point. -
John Madden is gone. https://www.foxnews.com/sports/nfl-super-bowl-coach-john-madden-dead-at-85 I have never been one to waste time on the weekend hovering around a TV watching football. Unless I was with friends and the weather was bad. Coach, Sportscaster, hard not to enjoy his show. Even played the PC Madden Football back in its first gaming days with some friends.

Anybody have a portable solar generator?

Cell phones will take a dump. Harbor Freight sells the solar panels too. I have a small one that I have yet to find a use for. About 16"x16". My "solar generator" is a $40 unit from Wally World that has an input for a solar panel. SHTF, I have the tech to make it work. Those Jackery's running a hot plate burner to cook on might be a stretch. Lots of amps to make btu's just to cook clean. I will light a fire to cook. -
Chronic wasting disease. I have seen it happen in feral animals all over. In the country...

Read an off road article that gave the Jackery a good review the other day. Harbor Freight has them. https://www.harborfreight.com/search?q=jackery Personally, a good gas powered inverter would suit my needs more. I have a smaller battery pack to charge electronics while on campsites. But normally go for a power site to charge the boat. -
That whole area just looks barren compared to most natural streams. Its hard to believe that there is any life in that water. Tailwaters are like scour fields.
