  1. I'll be down for the Fire Department tournament on August 24th. I'm ready for some Taneycomo time!
  2. I think there is a sign, but basically it's anything from Fall Creek on up. Fall Creek is the creek just above the Fall Creek docks, which are the last row of docks on the right side as you head up the lake.
  3. I bought my 2013 model year engine in June 2014. It was still titled as a 2013 and warranty started on the day that I purchased it. I've never heard of a motor being retitled with a newer model year.
  4. Maramec trout tags are the same as the others, $3 for adults and $2 for kids. They do charge for parking though, which is $5 for a daily pass or $35 for a yearly pass. I made a post the weekend before last about a quick trip down to Maramec Springs. Easy fishing and good quality. Didn't take me more than 45 minutes to put four nice ones on the stringer and I didn't get down till after 9am. Fish were cleaned and I was heading home shortly after 10am. No need to fight that buzzer crowd just to catch stockers down there. It makes the fishing more enjoyable when you're not crowded.
  5. As long as the warranty starts the day you buy it, I wouldn't worry about it. I got screwed on my warranty for my 2013 150 though. Bought it new in 2014, put over 300 hours on it before the warranty ran out last month and never even got to use it.......
  6. The water looked like chocolate milk when I crossed the 89 bridge this past Wednesday. We got some really heavy rains in that area this past Sunday.
  7. I can't stand having a butt seat in the way of me when I'm fishing in the front of the boat. There's a few guys I have to bring one for because their back bothers them after standing in a boat all day. Personally, my back feels better after I spend a day in a boat getting jossled around. It bothers me worse after sitting on my duff all week at work.
  8. I've been chasing these stingy Gasconade River bass every weekend and it's wearing me down. I had to give them a break and do something different. After trout fishing yesterday, I came back home and met up with a couple buddies and went to the Gasconade to drink beer and drown worms while sitting in the water. It's been forever since I've fished and relaxed instead of acting like I'm mad at them. It was fun.
  9. Made a quick trip down yesterday. Arrived at the lodge to buy my tag at 9:15 and had my fish cleaned and headed back home shortly after 10am. I stopped at the first big hole and it was full of fish. There fish in the middle of the hole weren't very active and I couldn't get them to bite so I moved down by the steps. There was a big wad right in front of the dump. I caught six or seven on an 1/80oz gold head olive micro jig that I tie and kept the first four nice ones. The key was to throw behind the school of fish and then just slowly reel the jig above their noses. One would react and bite every cast. There were a few young kids fishing next to me that were catching a few on dough bait below a float too. I got a kick out of the one fish they caught. One threw in first and I saw his bait disappear right away when a fish ate it, but the float never moved so he never set the hook. His buddy threw in after him and made the same drift line. Eventually one realized they were bit and started reeling in the fish. This made the other kids float move and he started reeling in as well. They soon found out that the same fish had eaten both of their baits.
  10. MDJ's video that @Mitch f linked was a big help for me when trying the FG knot. I always had decent luck when I was tying it to heavier fluorocarbon, but struggled when attaching 8-10# to 15# braid until I started using 30 wraps and more cinch knots to secure everything. I'll tie a leader on at home with the FG knot and then use the Alberto on the water if I manage to break off the entire leader. Alberto ain't a bad knot, the FG is just better.
  11. @JestersHK will tell you that sleep is overrated, especially when Taneycomo is involved.
  12. OMG!!! I had some jalapeno poppers as a side with my elk roast for lunch today! 😲😲😲 With guys like us spilling the beans on our Taneycomo secrets, Milo is sure to catch at least three 20 inchers on his trip!
  13. Canned corn dipped in cream cheese in Lookout Eddy is the ticket! Thank me later!
  14. Here's a few images taken directly from articles that you linked. The articles even say that those anomalies don't negate the average upward trend. I'm guessing you didn't actually look at anything more than the titles.
  15. Did you forget how the previous winter was mild and dry? Dad was out in Colorado hunting elk in December of 17 in areas that had 6' of snow this past December when we went. There were portions of the midwest in extreme drought conditons last May where as most were dealing with too much rain this year. You can't claim the climate has changed just because weather patterns vary each year. You got any data that shows temps dropping on a global scale? Everything I've seen shows it going the other way.
  16. Europe is sure singing a different tune. https://www.nytimes.com/2019/07/03/climate/hottest-june-on-record.html
  17. I know there were quite a few 3-4# spots showing up in the Osage last year. Even heard of a few over 4 that were caught.
  18. I'm not sure how far I can cast to be honest. Aside from my crankbait setup, I ended up spooling up my reels with some old well used 65# Power Pro so they only hold about 50-60 yards of line. Most of my fishing in close quarters so no reason to have an entire spool of high dollar fluorocarbon. I believe that was a tip Aaron Martens posted on YouTube. Makes it much easier to stomach dropping the money on high dollar line when you can spool up three or four times instead of just once. My spinning reels for bass have 15# braid on them and I use a 10-15' fluorocarbon leader. It's not much that I want the leader to keep fish from seeing the line as it is that if I break off, I'm only going to lose leader instead of the high dollar braid. Hiding the line is just a bonus.
  19. It is, but the transducer is for mounting to a trolling motor lower unit. If you are wanting something for the transom, you would need to get a different transducer. Aside from that, everything is there.
  20. I have a buddy who guides up in that area and he doesn't like to take clients when the water is higher than 3.5' (preferably 3') on the Hazelgreen gauge. It's showing 3.96 right now. You would probably be fine by yourself in a kayak though. I'd definitely be chunking a squarebill and a spinnerbait to every current seem I saw.
  21. For $240/day, I'd sure hope he could catch some giant fish of some kind! Maybe that's why his spool is so low on line. He could only afford the 110 yard spool instead of enough to fill it all the way up. http://www.kingfishersociety.com/packages_and_pricing.html
  22. Trophy Run down to Lookout and definitely a hot spot for those nice browns.
  23. I'm having the best year I've ever had by far and I'm still only #4 in the group. We got a bunch of fantasy big sticks!
  24. If the water levels stay like this, float fishing might not be as good, but it makes for great jet boat fishing. We fished the Gasconade out of Bell chutes yesterday and did really well on just about everything we threw. Smallies were chomping and stacked up in certain areas. Largemouth still being finicky though. Only a few caught and only one over 2#. We finally caught a couple smallies near that 18" mark. One guy ran dang near to Riddle Bridge and said it was easy running.
  25. Yup. That is one thing I've learned the past few years. I used to only hit a spot once in a day and keep moving on. Now I will hit my confidence areas multiple times in a day. Sometimes they bite early and other times they bite early in the afternoon. I've personally had my best luck later in the morning or in to the early afternoon, but that could just be due to my style of fishing. Most seem to prefer the first few hours of the day over the afternoon bite. Of course if you're floating, you really don't have much choice in the matter.
