  1. All I can say is it's nice we have someone to watch over us. I get read the riot act quite often for doing something before thinking it out.
  2. Other than the crowd great synopsis of your trip. Thanks Mr. Foghorn. 😁
  3. Go Dave go. Need some competition against the multiple species anglers on the fly rod front although the Hamanator might be on your tail or passed you. I could get in on this but don't have the drive yet. Think I would have to give up a hobby to start another.
  4. Thank you, I am afraid if this rain event hits in the drainage as forecasted the whites will be in Kansas and beyond like last year. ☹️
  5. Still deep by the dock houses?
  6. I second this about Rogers sporting goods. I think over 100 bucks free shipping. It may even be less. I have ordered stuff early one day and got it the next. I order my waterfowl loads from here by the case. If you look on the site at sales and clearance items there are rogers' hoodies for 9.95 each. We actually got two each for Pat and me. And another two to gift out to a couple friends. Get ya some @Ketchup 😁
  7. You all have wrong. I hear tell you fill your beer mug all the way to the Brim.
  8. Quit trying to make things better. If it is a natural replacement fine. There have been success stories for sure like the European honeybee. Our gray squirrel is running rampant in places in Europe. I call that a good trade for bees 🤣. Where does this end? Heck, I don't know. Just seen today they found some giant invasive African snails in luggage coming into the states. Stop bucket biologists.
  9. The most important thing on this trip Alex is give us a report. Good luck man.
  10. Dave, I think there is more at play here also. It's a time deal that might take a while to rear its ugly head. No one thought or cared way back when common carp , bighead carp, black carp, grass carp, brook trout, Callery pear and autumn olive were introduced. These are just examples of many, many things We have to live with now. Yes, we like to chase and catch them. Like you anything that pulls on my fly line I enjoy catching but at what cost? I care about what is next. Like @fishinwrench and his thoughts about the hybrid striper messing up the gene pool in the white bass. He says he has seen it but I have not. Time will tell but do you think it is worth the gamble?

    What's Cooking?

Daryk, Thus is the one we used yesterday. Really easy and quick, very tasty. There are other recipes with more complex ingredients we will try in the future but trying this one you can't go wrong. Hot and Sour Soup (Ready in 20 minutes!) - Little Spoon Farm

    What's Cooking?

Duck fried rice (Mallard) and hot and sour soup. Cooking DYI is the best. Enough to feed an army. Leftovers a plenty.

    What's Cooking?

What worries me is retried sounds like they will be eaten a second time! Think the retired ones would be a better option.

    What's Cooking?

Looks good Rick! I am betting you have some of @Daryk Campbell Sr retired beans in that also. 🤣
  18. I agree Doug is terminal.
  19. My name is Marty and I have a problem. After yesterday's fishing trip I decided something. I have a cheeky triple play flyrod reel deal. One reel with a spool, then two spare spools. So, I have three lines on the spools. I wanted to set up two rods with two sink tip types. DUH one reel. To heck with that just ordered two more exact reels. Good deal on clearance. This will still give me two extra spools but at least I can rig multiple fly rods now . I feel your pain @MOPanfisher

    What's Cooking?

That meat was pretty tasty. I'm not his friend but did get some while we fished yesterday. 😂
  21. Still downstream. After a phone call and some coaxing from @curtisce Tuesday evening the decision was made to head over to the spring river for recon. We did not really figure to be there early. Greeted at the ramp with 13 vehicles parked with empty trailers. We launched the jet and made decision to go upstream. There we seen a half dozen others trying the same. No hits and no other fish landed as far as we could tell. WT 47. Others started filtering out as we did after a good try. Headed down again by ramp with more trying. All you have to do Is look for boats gathering to find the fish. Curt and I were using fly gear and this proved to be a challenge in the deeper water. Both using sink tips. Everyone fishing around 15 foot of water a bit more or less. I ran a single clouser and Curt running tandem clousers. Curt struck the first two. It took awhile but I fell into my groove finally. You had to be on the bottom. Throw out, swing the fly letting it sink then retrieve back to boat from directly down stream. Hot color for us was a firetiger I tye. Out of the mix of fish I tallied there was five hybrid and two crappie plus whites. One crappie was a 12 incher. Combined mid forty or less caught. I call the day a good trip considering what we did for deeper fish. My best day fishing deep with fly gear. Pulled out about 2:30 with WT 49 degrees. It's going to get better. A couple more weeks looking forward to thinner faster water to fish for them. . I was throwing a 7wt with Rio predator elite S5 S7 line Curt a 7 full sink. I only lost one fly and I don't think Curt any. Pretty clean bottom. Lots of spin fisherpeople throwing towards the bank with brush. We stayed deeper.
  22. Let me throw this at you Glen. I am sure just like in humans there are birth anomalies in fish. What is the numbers you are seeing? One in ten? One in 100? on and on. I read where one in 700 babies are born with Down syndrome. IMO that is a bunch of children. That is not including other disorders. Enviromental the cause? We both know how prolific fish are and whites are most likely on top of that list, and I am sure they have birth defects too. Some survive some don't because of the environment they live in. No one is nurturing those baby fish but the sheer numbers that can be affected and show up on your net.
  23. Probably boils down to something environmental.
  24. Neither of those problems for me but something quite different. During the big run there are so many people in and out all day long and do not think there is a big problem in that instance. So, when I launch from that ramp when no one is around I do something else. I am sure Les and I are not the only ones that have had problems there before.
