Oh my gosh this brings up some memories. 😁 Met Virgil Ward below Truman dam fishing for crappie. I knew who I was looking at as I fished 20 yards down the bank. He would catch a fish and if legal keep it. Had a couple other guys with him. Pretty soon he threw out a snarl and I mean a good one. He fought it trying to get it out. Then I hear sonny, sonny come over here, turned my head and yep, he was calling for me. Went over and he said my eyes are not very good can you help me get this fixed. I did and he explained he was trying to get some crappie to fillet at a store event. Too funny Grandma always watched his shows and never missed any. She would always say she did not like him! HA. Second encounter with a guy was at Harrisonville Wal Mart. This guy was at a table and on each side was a display. One was fillet Knives and the other was Strong Heart canned dog food. Sure, enough there was Harold Ensley, and he was demonstrating his knife of choice filleting crappie. No one around he called me over and said watch this on how I fillet a fish and never touch the meat. He talked about his bird dog and how good the dog food was. Oh how I wish we had cell phones with cameras back then. Grandma watched him too but did not care for his hunting on some shows.
