    What's Cooking?

A two for meal deal. Tis the season for eating dove again. The brest fillets were wrapped in a third of a slice of bacon and pinned with a soaked toothpicks. Charcoal white added some wild cherry wood. Dove in a basket so you turn all at once. When time bacon is done the dove will be tender and perfect just like waterfowl think pink. Sides of stuffed jalapenos done in trager pellet grill and slaw. Larping I'm telling you. Today it was meatloaf in the trager. Three to be exact. Sides of mixed vegetables and mashed taters. Glaze was the bomb on the meat. Good couple days of eating. It's a wonder we don't weigh five hundred pounds. Make up for days we don't eat much or even skip meals.
  3. Thanks for doing that. I need to go for a drive too and see some of the places. Not that I will be there on weekends though. hoping there is water in 3 and 4.
  4. Yep! Still have birds, lots of birds but getting spooky. Corn is being shelled now too and other fields should be getting birds working.
  5. We got another dozen between us this morning. The birds are changing the flight pattern coming into field. With Pat going back to work I will try to go back Wednesday morning and change places in the field.
  6. Might as well get something started. September 10th Is the teal opener. Seen four today on a pond. There were four big ducks too. Didn't have the binoculars to see species but we have some frivolous whistling ducks hanging around this summer. Could be some of those. Good luck to all the teal hunters .
  7. Way to go Kendall and crew!
  8. Gave same spot as opening day a rest yesterday. Back at it this morning. I shot better but Pat struggled. My limit was had with 28 shots. 1.86666666666 shells per bird. I've done better before but was happy. Pat shot four but won't let me share her average. We got hom and cleaned birds then Pat did biscuits and gravy. What a morning! VID_20220903_105025348.mp4

    What's Cooking?

Let's cook up some of the dove shot this morning. Deboned ten dove and split the dove fillets in half. The holy wok was fired up with charcoal and cherry wood added to flame things up. The dove was done first to a medium rare doneness. VID_20220901_135656062.mp4 It was pulled and bag of frozen stir fry veggies done next. VID_20220901_135953448.mp4 Then meat added back for a few seconds. While this was going on the rice cooker was busy making rice. A bottle of Sichuan stir far sauce was added to the meat and veggies then spread over the rice. sure was good. When time permits next go around will use our own sauce recipe and fresh veggies. Made do with what we had.
  12. When you get a bunch hanging around and need some squirrel control I will travel over and take them out quietly with air propelled projectile. Even clean them for you. That's a deal for you.
  13. It's was off the chart for a bit. I was five for five off the bat. Then the doves got stupid and so did my shooting.
  14. Two limits two miles from the house. Blessed to have a good wingwoman by my side. I was done a bit quicker than her last bird at 8:05. wheat stubble that had not been turned under that was taken over with weeds. VID_20220901_080928196.mp4 VID_20220901_081219176.mp4

  16. Nice JD, Actually, just like your bees they are thinking about winter. Happens around here too. see them moving more crossing the dirt roads in BilletHeadVille and back and forth swimming across the river I frequent from bluff denning areas to low ground more. As time goes on even more to the bluff side as it cools off.

  19. Venting is a good thing needed from time to time to release stress and pressure. Think Pressure cooker buddy. We don't need anyone blowing up or exploding.
