  1. @FishnDave, @Quillback and any others that may be interested in the Uniface Scraper. Here are a couple of my best examples. One face worked and the flip side the underside of the spall. Edges worked at a steep angle with a pressure flaker from the undercut side of the piece. Here are a few views. The white one is Burlington chert and the gray mottled one is Jefferson City chert. I also have attached a couple points that when spent ( Not further useful for a projectile point or what it was intended for). They were than used for a hafted scraper. I really do not believe their purpose was a blunt point. Knapped points were utilized until unusable. Some were worked down to a drill form even keeping the hafting ears. I have replicated drills and hafted them to shafts with pitch then wrapped them with wet sinew coated in hide glue. Then used my palms to spin and drilled bone and mussel shell. Worked like a charm!
  2. Neat John, We have tree frogs out the wazoo here even in the drought we have had this summer. Have not seen many stuck to the windows at night when it is dry but in the garden great. They like my double water grow tubs. See them peeking out the fill pipes. Baby ones too. I really think they are raising in the tubs and when the tadpoles turn they are climbing out the same spout.
  3. Dave maybe a start to one or just a piece being worked to a possible point. I will get into my artifacts today and snap a pic or two of a good example. Your piece has been definitely worked. Thanks for posting!

  9. Guys I am glad you are both "Killing It" We are not doing too bad ourselves. I am however praying for the almost 197,000 ones that have died because of this pandemic and their families. Does not matter if it is because of underlying conditions or not. Have a friend who uses a guy to haul grain a year younger than I am. He tested positive and a week later on a ventilator, a couple days later his kidneys shut down and he died. Yes I thank and pray for what I am blessed with too.

  11. Fly your colors proud Mitch! Right or wrong a guy has to believe in something! I think you need a trump sticker and a trump fishing jersey too. We all need to smile during these trying times and pray, pray, pray.
  12. Low Tec tracking device! Did that once to a yellow perch in Minnesota when I was a kid. My grandpa laughed until he hurt. That fish pulled that balloon all over that lake. It was that or a northern took it all over he said.
  13. That's nice Mitch! Congrats
  14. My Lineman and I were putting in a new three phase primary extension from behind the bowling alley to a new Dollar General store. We were digging and setting poles when we looked up and seen the commercial airline jets making u turns and the contrails following. It was a beautiful blue sky. It was just weird. Turned on the radio in line truck to hear what was going on. I got a sick feeling. When we got back to the show up the supervisors had the TV on. Leaving town to come home the gas stations were packed filling vehicles and gas cans. Chaos Gas price gouging was already going on. Back at home we were glued to the TV. For awhile after that we were told anytime we went by a station to make sure the line trucks were topped off with diesel and every end of the day do it again.
  15. More like some Mercury in their iced tea! The dreaded long painful death wish.
  16. My friend that lives down there said the ones that work the chicken and turkey farms that migrate from south of the border do pound the lake. Park on the Easterly end and do not purchase the 2 dollar permit.
  17. They were. Some fat bass landed too.
  18. Even the old ones Fox or gray are very tender if I do a long braise or Pressure for 20 minutes. The pressure ones I coat and fry. The ones I cooked above were young. Those youngsters are tender just fried. You all make me want to go to the woods again. I think I am up to 45 since the opener last part of May.
  19. I had fun there on a solo trip Wily on June 15th. Just took a few fish pictures. I agree it looks as though it does get some pressure especially this season even more people out. If the pan fishermen are keeping everything that hits the 8 inch minimum I can see a lack of fish. I also seen the black dead water vegetation. I have a friend who lives within a couple blocks of the lake and see what he thinks if I remember.
