  1. NICE! @snagged in outlet 3 That is pretty neat. We like snakes, all snakes. In the yard with the old dog venomous snakes get displaced or dispatched. Other places free passes for all!
  2. No but it is getting more comical by the moment!
  3. You are talking domestic mallard, not wild. Wild feather buyers will not even buy mallard feathers. They buy other wild duck feathers by the ounce. You are a smart guy. Do your research on why migratory birds are protected. Market hunting and other birds just for feathers for fancy hats.
  4. Federal law, Some states have other laws over waterfowl feathers I have heard. You cannot just use them for anything but what is stated here, https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/CFR-2001-title50-vol1/pdf/CFR-2001-title50-vol1-sec20-91.pdf There was a place I bookmarked on my computer but cannot seem to find it. They would buy legally harvested waterfowl feathers from hunters. I thought about collecting and selling some but instead I give them to a forum member on here.
  5. Jeff, Just let me (us) know when and I (we) will be there.
  6. Waterfowl feathers is a funny deal too. You are able to sell legally taken waterfowl feathers only for fly tying only.
  7. Was some fun trips. How did i do on that flimsy stick? 🤪

  10. I think it is a Danish pancake iron. I'll get right on with my research! Get back at ya.

Yep we cook all we can outside. Yes to watching out for bargains all the time.
  12. You bet. That bell is a neat piece of history!
  13. Well I have heard of such things but this was a first to see one. As we were getting off the lake at noon this big truck and long box trailer was pulling down. We wondered what was in the trailer. We watched as we organized gear for the ride home. The trailer back door opened and I said what the heck? Guy by himself took out a panel off the floor and lowered the engine. Opened the front door of the trailer and then turned around and backed the rig down the ramp to launch. WOW Do any of out OAF membership trailer your boat this way?

    What's Cooking?

Anybody seen one of these? A waring SB30 professional single burner. This thing is neat. it has a cast iron hot plate. I looked on Amazon it is a 175 dollar item. Did I pay that? HECK NO! We have found a lady that does some estate work. Ends up with a bunch of stuff that she sells. I spied this plus a couple other items. We asked her how much. She said fifteen bucks for all three pieces. I had no idea what I had until on the way home. It was brand new. So it got a work out this evening. We cook a bunch of bacon at a time for BLT's. No sense in stinking up the kitchen so we turned on this think and Pat went to work in the outside kitchen. No remarks about the fading paint on the picnic table!

    What's Cooking?

So after a morning of fishing we came home to what are we going to cook this afternoon? A trip to the freezer for a package of wild turkey carnita meat. Then to the garden for squash, cubanelle peppers and a couple jalapenos. As the turkey was thawing the grill was fired up and the veggies were cut up. A splash of olive oil and some tajin seasoning for some citrus flavor. With grill hot and apple wood smoking on the coals the basket put on and cooking. Pat heated the turkey meat and put on some BilletHead BBQ sauce. That became a sandwich and there was some of the microwave bread and butter pickles @ness led us to making. They were put on the sandwich too. Too nice a day to be eating in the house. We sat on the screened in porch enjoying the north breeze. Eating we were treated to the swarm of hummingbirds at three of the six feeders we have out, 0803201803a.mp4 0803201803a.mp4
  16. How big is it Dutch? Make an electrolysis tank. That is what I have done for taking off rust. https://castironcommunity.com/electrolysis-tank If you don't care about the finish and are going to paint it get it sandblasted. Some use nut shell media. I won't do that with my cooking iron but probably would on the bell.

    What's Cooking?

Good day here and got a lot of things done including some cooking. Started off the day with a bagel and cup of coffee on the back porch. Wonderful weather right now even though we have been missing the rain some of you all have been getting. Then it was time to make some bread out of the new book we just got. This would be white bread, called Saturday morning bread. May need to rename it depending on when you make it. So dough was mixed and turned. Within an hour and a half needed to turn twice more. Then a five hour first raise. While this was going on dirt was worked and a bed of Bok Choy was planted for Fall. Then more tomatoes sliced and another five trays went into dehydrator. A couple other projects then it was time for second raise. This involved a bit more dough work and splitting for two loaves. These two loaves went into cane banneton proofing baskets for five hours, five hours later, While this raise was going on the oven was preheated to 450 with two Dutch ovens lids on. Oven hot in went the dough for 30 minutes lid on and then 20 lid off then we were gifted this, Bread now cooling off it was time for the afternoon meal. Grill fired up and coals hot duck breasts on and Pat went out to garden to pick basil. Balsamic vinegar working down to a syrup on the stovetop. She went to work on the Caprese salad, Plated up and consumed. I will spare you the pic of me slurping the juice off the side of the plate, Then dessert was a slice of the bread,

    What's Cooking?

I was so ready to start stuffing cubanelle peppers. One of our favorite summer meals. Pat made some arrabiata sauce, cooked some ground venison and mixed in the sauce. Split the peppers and stuffed them. Covered with shredded Asiago cheese. Popped into the smoker at 250 for awhile until cheese began to melt and get a good smoke color.
  19. Good Grief! Another picking this morning. Cherry tomatoes are manageable. Big tomatoes not so much. Still dehydrating and giving away. More salsa making tomorrow. Picked the remaining cucumbers today and Pat pulled the vines so we can prepare to plant Fall Bok Choy. It has been a good year for the garden and still some season left. As I type this jars are sterilizing and real quick we will putting together bread and butter pickles to water bath can.
  20. Good people to the rescue !
  21. Mr. Everson, Never thought to call you that when we are fishing together in hot competition. Usually it's not so cordial. 🤣
