Here is what I have @snagged in outlet 3 Pete, The drift pin will make it through all the grates but not make it all the way through the foot. Then the ball peen hammer, I tried to keep it as long as oi could so just a little file work.. Easy and cheap. Just like me 😀
-
The nail is really long. I will get you a pic of what I use. Yes, pulling from other end helps.
-
Same from me when I am solo fishing but tend to push limits at times.
-
Ouchee, been there done that. I keep a small box of tools in the jet. A smallish ball peen hammer and a drift pin made from a large nail some diameter as the pin holding the grates. Pull offending grate grab hammer and go to work on a log to straighten enough to get by until an anvil is available. Pete your impeller looks great. I have a few cosmetic blemishes on my impeller I need to file out some.

We found two hen of the woods mushrooms three days ago. Very young and just emerging. They are around a dead and decaying tree. I suppose this is keeping the ground moist because I am surprised with this drought anything is coming up in our area. I found a third smaller one today and I picked it. We made a plan for this afternoon's dinner. Sous Vide venison backstrap sections with a mushroom sauce. Had seen one prepared on the sporting chef last week. Ours is a take off of that one. Pat prepping the sauce, I was working outside after pulling the loins out of the sous vide bath. 2 hours @ 131 degrees. In the bag there were seasoned with S&P, Rosemary sprigs from the garden and pats of butter. Hot Grill with charcoal and pear wood. Get some flames and then lid on for smoke. Repeat after flipping until a good color and sear, Sauce coming together, Off the grill let's see how we did? Just right lets plate, And just for @ness We did Norwegian apple cake. No Rum involved,

What do you think was in those potato rolls and under them for greasing the skillet? Goose fat and it's the same as the duck stuff.
-
Ever since @rps posted those rolls his Bride Nancy made I have been in the mood for hot rolls. Yesterday Pat got with the program with a skillet of potato rolls. From the time the dough was made until popping out of the oven it smelled good in the house. First raise, Second raise, Into the preheated 400 degree oven, The final product, Some butter and a dollop of gooseberry jam and it was a treat.

Good deal. Is the foot healing?

That is just pretty neat. If I only lived closer, you and @Hamwould have to put up with me.

Thanks Ryan, There are some situations where I can learn to vanish really well. I was given a walk behind sickle cutter by a friend. It is not a DR but a Troy built. They don't make them anymore. The controls were broken so I did some self-engineering and made a fix. The fuel primer is getting rotten so might have to fix it someday. I keep alcohol free premium in it. If I get it primed right, it will start on one pull. Self-propelled and easy to use. If you get in some good fescue I can run, it ten to fifteen yards and fill two fifty-gallon trash bags full of grass. I run the machine and Pat walks behind picking it up. What a deal,

I really think this rod is a gem awaiting to be used again Sandy. I hope you do dig it out and reconnect. Thanks for sharing your rods story. -
Berkley Parametric another vintage rod found
BilletHead replied to BilletHead's topic in General Flyfishing Topics
Thanks, I knew you would know more than I on this rod/subject. After posting this subject yesterday I went out with a five-weight reel and casted. I can say I liked the feel of that also. One thing I did notice is I could feel more flex towards the handle that was a creepy feeling. -
Some Grocery shopping. Early Canada goose season. Sunday morning a pair for Pat and I. Been watching a field of volunteer corn coming up after the harvest, the field has also been drilled with wheat. Lots of local birds using it. Did not get to watch it Thursday through Saturday morning. We sat up there Sunday morning and got two. On way out seen where the birds changed to. I solo hunted it Monday morning. Had cut a bunch of green fescue to cover layouts. So, dry it was an easy hunt. Drove up the waterway and sat at edge of the same type of field as Sunday except this one was not as tall as the other. I sat up decoys close to me and around the blind. First group of ten birds were in my face wings set. I lined up the heads on the lead two and dumped them both. As they dropped, I shot again and got the third bird in line and just like that it was over. Picked up quickly and got out of there with more birds coming in as I left. Cooler again this weekend will get Pat out there again.

The hunt continued, Was at a Big Swap meet Last Thursday and Friday. Ran upon another Vintage fly rod. I spied it on Thursday morning. In a guys stuff. He had all kinds of fishing things and Vintage Cast iron cookware. I was in paradise. I see this cloth rod case on a table. It was soiled kind of oily looking on the cloth. I unwrapped the ties and slid the three sections out. On the handle cork was a Metal medallion deal embossed with Para/Metric Curved Taper and a Heart in the middle that Said Berkley. The rod itself was a dark maroon color. On the glass itself was a stamp in black you could hardly see that said Berkly Para/Metric Tubular Glass. P-40 6' 3" Made in USA. I looked it over really well and it was pristine. I slid it back in the bag and asked how much. Guy said 20 bucks. I laid it back on the table and picked up a couple Zara Spooks for three bucks each and paid for them. Guy said you want that rod? I'm not real sure and said I will think about it. Spent the day walking, walking and walking some more looking around and buying other stuff including a new to me Dutch oven. Left for the day and thought I should have bought that rod. Even woke up in the middle of the night thinking about it. Made up my mind I would get it if still there. Next day that was the first place I went. Put it together and looked it over again then bought it. On way home I did some googling to see what I had. Consensus is very desirable. Made in different lengths and weights. The more I looked at it the more I began to like it. Some said it was a four weight so after getting home I put a four-weight reel on it. First thing I noticed the hook keeper is on the top of the rod. Reel seat is wood and looks like plain walnut. Rod is very light. No metal ferrules. Slide together glass to glass. Ends of male ferrules have a wood looking plug. Windings are very nice. Another embellishment right at the hook keeper is a wood veneer or veneer looking wrap. I did some casting with the four-weight line. Really smooth, nice turnover and smooth landing. I will give a five-weight line a try next. @tjm @kjackson Know anything more about this rod? Age? On a side note, I received the missing screw from the guy in Ireland for my J.W. & Young Pridex reel today. Put in its place on the reel. Perhaps this rod is where it will go?

Wow Daryk that thing is the bomb. Don't sweat the bugs. Adds Character. I would sign it with a thumbprint if I was you. -
Fantasamo! Getting happy with age.

Looks good Dutch and thanks for participating. We did some hybrid back fillets over charcoal and wood last weekend. Lid on a good portion of the time for lots of smoke.
