JoeD - weren't you the guy doing the mea culpa a few weeks back? release your anger young skywalker.

True, many of the videos are an exercise in voyeuristic cheese, especially if there is some bad rock band powerchord going on just as a fish jumps, but overall I kinda dig on 'em. Its better than no video.

We all know and fully understand that the highwater mark for fishing excursion filmmaking was set by the legendary PaullDallas. Cameras back then weighed around 75 lbs, cost about $100 grand in todays adjusted dollars, and the brightness of the lamps could blind a person. This was well before betamax and vhs came on the scene, nevermind the digital stuff and gopro that has everyone thinking they can be Quentin Tarantino or Kelly Clarkson from American Idol.

Sadly, all of the Paul Dallas archived videos from the 70s and 80s that were true masterpieces were destroyed by the tsunami that struck coastal Japan a couple years ago, wiping out a warehouse along with the worlds largest collection of soft-core erotica owned by former Japanese Prime Minster, Ichi Sokkamammary.

I must admit it only seems to be Fly guys who make these videos or at least who post them here. I think most are really cool but, a bit self serving and I can see Joe's point. I mean if OAF or Youtube were not around I assume they would just be home videos for friends and family when they come over???? which is very cool.....I'm just trying to figure out the motive of revealing them to expansive world wide web??? product promotion or endorsement???? self promotion???

I was intructed to quit posting pics and vids so I have abliged by that and only throw out bs comments from the gallery now so who am I to question anyones motives on anything.....so that beeing said let's see some vids, with more fish porn :have-a-nice-day:

I appreciate all of the contributions submitted by others for everyone's enjoyment Pics, Videos, Stories etc. It is not always about the "Fish". I enjoy the ride to a new place, I enjoy the landscape of new (fishing) spots. Sure it is easy to come in and give a negative comment when drunk, but can you give the same negative comment when sober?

I like the parts of the video showing the drive to new locations, usually I drive at night. Keep submitting.

Side request, Hey Cheif, if you find any more of the Conservation Videos, please post them. I know they don't show fish being caught, but they are relaxing.

Hi, my name is Brian Wise...I am a fly fishing guide and this is how fun it is to fish with me....

I personally think it is fun when crap is thrown at fly fishing videos. In this instance, I have to admit though -- If JoeD doesn't like the current fly fishing videos the best thing to do is

1. Don't watch them

or

2. Make a better video himself. (I would watch it)

Pretty simple....or is it?

I agree fly fishing guide Brian Wise. Many of us love to watch any kind of fly fishing video, and those in the industry like them because they get more people excited about the sport. So yes I guess that could be considered self promotion. It takes a lot of work to make a good fly fishing video and I can tell you from experience that when Guide Wise goes fishing catching fish is the first thing on his mind, making a video is down on the list after having fun and drinking beer. Don't ever let it be said that video taping interrupted a good fly drinking trip. I will continue to enjoy watching videos from everyone and if you are having fun making them then by all means keep them coming and if you ever get video of that 30" eating, then you are spending way to much time behind the camera!

Well... I agree with the need for different types of music. Especially some rap. Nothing would improve these fishing vids more than some bikini clad women popping their booties next to someone fly fishing. And....maybe switch it up to some heavy metal for when there's been a strike and the fight is on. I'd leave the driving in, but maybe feature cars that bounce like in the old rap videos. So much that can be done......LOL.

Or.......we could just let those who enjoy them watch them, and if you dont, just avoid them. Kinda like the way I avoid many of the Table Rock posts because (A) I don't fish there and (B) I don't have a boat to fish there. Of course, I guess I could just start complaining that there's so darn many of them and it's discourteous to the people who can't be there. That's about the same mentality..

Like Ricky said, "You can't please everyone, so you've got to please yourself." Ain't it the truth!?!

I thoroughly enjoy all the videos, from EVERYONE here on OAF. Brian, your videos in particular are regular fare at our get-togethers. A lot of my friends don't fish at all, but continually request to see the "fly fishing guy with the bad@$$ kid"- the girls especially love him. I edit video and audio for a living, I know what's involved, and you all deserve to showcase your hard work and dedication to the sport (both fishing AND filming). I can't figure why some folks would disapprove and be vocal about it- It takes a lot more effort to complain about a video than to just not view it. If you can't say anything nice.... you know the rest. Thanks to everyone who takes the time to put these videos together- keep up the good work.

BTW Brian, we tied up a couple dozen gar flies after watching your video about 20 times- can't wait to hit the riv with some whiskey and nylon!! :x_x:
