fishinwrench Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 One guy loses his life, the other guy probably loses everything he worked for (after he pays his legal fees). Very sad. I used to carry a 45 for self defense, because I spent a lot of time on the road. One day I thought about what would likely happen if I ever had to use it. Then I put the gun back in the safe. All machismo aside, I would rather give a guy my wallet, than some lawyer a half million to defend me. If he shoots me at least my family will have what I have worked for all my life. If someone comes in the house well that's another story. Exactly my POV 100%
Wayne SW/MO Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 I think Fishslayer has a point. If they can check a boat on the river they can check it at the launch or the take out which makes more sense to me. If the idea of the law is to prevent, then checking at the start to insure locked coolers, trash bags, etc makes sense. If they're looking for empty cans in the bottom of the boat or drunks then the take out would make more sense. If you use a gun outside your home or shelter the question won't be whether you were wrong or right, but whether a jury will think you were right. I would worry that I couldn't make them feel and appreciate what I felt. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Jerry Rapp Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 with a bunch of "bad" folks out there with guns, why shouldn't I have one for protection from them?
Justin Spencer Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 I try to live my life according to Cash and I can't seem to shake these wise words that he once sang: As Billy Joe fell to the floor The crowd all gathered 'round And wondered at his final words Don't take your guns to town son Leave your guns at home Bill Don't take your guns to town Don't become another Billy Joe "The problem with a politician’s quote on Facebook is you don’t know whether or not they really said it." –Abraham Lincoln Tales of an Ozark Campground Proprietor Dead Drift Fly Shop
Hog Wally Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Two idiot canoers shooting pistols at (turtles) all the way through (my) stretch of river Saturday morn. They had a costly take out point . Sorry about that but I had to call in the heat. Another gun incident down below river round Saturday afternoon according to warden buddy. They shooting at water to see the effect. Could be a select group of knuckleheads continually acting out. Make it costly for them and they stop? Lets hope.
Jerry Rapp Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 mabe folks with common sense should just stay home during the summer? It is a very sad society that is evolving.
