joeD Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 "If you don't like the way I'm livin, then just leave this long haired country boy alone..." Charlie Daniels Fly the rebel flag, too. Good grief. At some point, Missouri has to join the ranks of the living, and say goodbye to Ozark "tradition." Just because it's old, doesn't make it worth saving. In fact, this slavish devotion to the "Ozark" past is absolutely crippling individuals, families, towns, and regions. Time to grow up and embrace the present and future. We are getting left behind in most economic and social and educational parameters. Don't even ask about fishing. As I've said before, our state animal is the mule for a reason.
Greasy B Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Dynamite fishing was an Ozark tradition. Some how we managed to let go of that heritage. His father touches the Claw in spite of Kevin's warnings and breaks two legs just as a thunderstorm tears the house apart. Kevin runs away with the Claw. He becomes captain of the Greasy Bastard, a small ship carrying rubber goods between England and Burma. Michael Palin, Terry Jones, 1974
joeD Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 "Heritage" and "dynamite" don't go together. Like Kim Kardashian and Caucasian dick. There is no letting go.
Feathers and Fins Posted September 18, 2013 Posted September 18, 2013 Al, you already listed some of the possibilities no need for me to repeat them.I have seen bass and other species in winter plenty shallow for a hit from a bird and winter is when we have the largest population of eagles. I am not saying they are always the case but seems you are trying to reason they wouldn't and we both know they can and do. I spear fished and even gave gigging a try and still on occasion use archery tackle mostly in salt water and am very familiar with what each type of wound looks like. But also seen wounds I cannot identify that could have been from a number of sources INCLUDING gigging. My point was and still is when people let emotions get involved they may see something that's not there in something that is completely innocent. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
