Gee thanks. I got a Fed job 5 years ago, after trying for many years after getting out of the Navy (And working 19 years in the private sector). Now, I know I'm just one of those nameless, faceless, darn Federal workers, but I take a tremendous amount of pride in my job and I'm now doing it without pay. Still required to go to work, but no check until the shutdown ends.

Comments like yours annoy the living crap out of me.

He is still upset that him and his wife "unfortunately" make too much money and will get taxed higher if they sold their home. Poor guy can barely make it on their 250k+ combined income. The higher tax rate is for earners over the 250k mark. He is good at grouping the good guys in with the bad and crying when something doesn't fit his agenda. He would fit in well as a politician.

You are a fed worker, therefore you must be as bad as the idiots in Congress.

I am a legal and ethical gigger but since a few bad eggs like to poach smallmouth I am considered just as bad.

I guess all well off people are selfish whiners like smalliebigs since that seems to be the theme to a lot of his posts on here.

Btw, here is the post I am referring to.

polls show 65%+ do not want Obamacare. Why doesn't the Senate see this? Govt employees being "furloughed" is like me or you pissing in the Ocean and raising the sea level in regards to the amount of money spent by the government. It doesn't mean squat in the big scheme. Obama said in 2006 that he would not vote for a debt ceiling increase because it is irresponsible (I am sure he voted present, as he never voted on anything, just bull shitted). In two weeks, the debt ceiling will be reached supposedly. It is semi good entertainment I guess, but I will still put most interest into the baseball playoffs. At least most the players try somewhat as they make millions at our expense for doing what they like.

Bottom line is the government, on our behalf (?), spends more than we can make and needs their credit card limit increased.

Nothing more, nothing less.

I'm all for this shutdown.

It will only draw attention (a good thing) to what is going on, and make people wake up and realize how jacked up things really are.

Vote them all out. This isn't about Obamacare. Its about power. Power needs to be restored to the American people and taken away from the arrogant clowns who think they have it.

Long live the shutdown and I truly hope it only gets worse.

Vote out every incumbent AND only vote for people who pledge to take no money or favors from any lobbyist.

Right, the best you could hope for is for them wear uniforms like NASCAR drivers so that you know who they are representing. The marriage between politics and corporations in this country makes me want to puke in my soup. Some people see 535 people trying to serve this nation.....I see 535 people serving themselves, nothing anyone can say or do will ever change my mind, let me also add that the majority (except 2 or maybe 3) govt employees I know are totally worthless. One acquaintance has told me he is happy about this as it is a free vacation (the back pay will almost certainly be there),,,,,ridiculous. I won't continue because I can't say anything nice or respectful here.....

Here here!

There should be no back pay either. Except for our military personnel if it comes to that. This is a govt lay-off, plain and simple. They need to feel the same pain as everyone else. No work, no dough!

Strange I have to disagree with you on the employee's part. Government officials claiming to be "non-essential" to me is the ultimate slap in the face to people who are doing the job.

I would not think of any person I hire or work with as "non-essential" or I would not hire them. Is government to big? YES Certainly and could it be done with far less personal? Yes without doubt or there would not be furloughs issued. However until we can regain control of the 535 absolute corrupt people at the top and force government to be reduced each of the "people" working is essential and to claim otherwise is degrading to them and their hard work.

I distain what our government has become with a passion but by no means does that mean I do not respect the people doing the work. Until we rain in the top we will have the belows!

Please do not place the workers in the same category as the corrupt politicians and political appointees, the average worker is there to work and is at no fault for what the political end of it is doing.

Disrespecting government workers you don't even know is as childish as the lawmakers are being. At least they are keeping the ditch fish fed at the hatcheries.

Ness-trodamus predicts:

1) No permanent damage from the shut down;

2) No default on the debt;

3) Obamacare lives on;

4) Most of these dipsh*ts will be reelected;

5) No significant change in the workings of the government;

6) Chiefs go 10 and 6

I'm about done with this whole thing, but do have to point out one thing...Jerry said that polls show that 65% don't want Obamacare. Probably true, but what those numbers don't show is, that doesn't mean they all agree with the Republicans. A lot of people on the liberal side don't like it because it doesn't go far enough toward the single payer system they want. Not everybody who doesn't like it is a conservative who hates Harry Reid. Obamacare was in itself a compromise...not so much with the Republicans as with the insurance companies.
