Weather guy on TV says that plane has been flown out.

I was just thinking that plane would make a nice diner on the landing.

I don't think there is a manned tower at either Branson Airport. IIRC, they are controlled from Columbia 100% by radar.

Branson airport is tower controlled, radar is at Springfield. Taney county doesn't have a tower.

No one hurt- that's the main thing.

Listening to KWTO 560 radio this morning. New guy- don't like him. He's spouting off about the incident without doing any research into what happened. Going on and on about it- telling you to call in but he doesn't stop talking. He was harping about making the passengers sit on the plane for 70 minutes... fact is they had to bring a ladder over from the big airport to safely get them off. See they had to transport something like that 8 miles- 70 minutes is pretty quick.

Bad they made a mistake but cuddos to them for getting it stopped on such a short runway.

This is why I don't listen to talk radio "mouth heads".....don't even get me started on the garbage on the radio in Kansas City

I put myself in the category of those who avoid flying. But my question is....isn't there usually communication between the tower and the plane in setting up the landing? At some point wouldn't the tower have said "we don't see you"??? Oh well....everyone makes mistakes, right?

I understand the fear of flying but once I was able to get myself over it I am able to enjoy travel alot more. It is nice to get off the place in 2.5 hours to go fishing in Florida or goof off in Vegas for a weekend without the drive, especially straight through flights....and I've even had some rough ones.

You definitely have more chance of being in a car wreck, however your chances of surviving a plane crash are much lower than surviving a car crash....but numbers (numbers of cars, drunk drivers, morons who don't pay attention, cell phones, texting, idtiots that drive on bald tires, etc etc) show that driving is much more dangerous.

I still get it....its just unnerving for some people, but still the best way to travel in my opinion.....not saying I don't enjoy an occasional road trip....the southwest and the drive between Kansas and South Carolina are two of my favorites.

I have to fly a lot for work so it never bothers me unless I miss a connection or the weather screws me.

I was on a flight once sitting next to a guy that was obviously terrified. We started talking and he told me he was an engineer that designed landing gear. I thought that was funny especially when he told me that he was the most frightened during a landing.

I see a lot of scared people and I feel really bad for them. Not much fun when you are terrified. I try to make some of them feel better but most don't seem to care for my plane crash jokes.

Back in the 70's a Delta pilot that was Chinese landed at the wrong airport. I kid you not, his name was Wong Wei.

I used to fly 100,000 per year selling laser scanning and Metrology equipment. No problem with flying whatsoever. Then one flight changed all that. We were the last one they let out on the runway. We took off and it was so turbulent that several overhead bins flew open and the suitcases spilled out! Ruined me....I'm a white knuckle flyer now. Talked to a pilot that told me the minute you grab control of the airplane controls that I would loose my fear of flying.

My wife refuses to fly. I have ridden in some pretty hot stuff out if NAS Mayport. It was right next to the carrier basin and was our home port. You could sing up for a rude with a pilot back then. I was told they discontinued that.

What I would. Like to have a ride in is a warthog. They hang around here a lot at times. They are just beautiful to see in the air.

A few years back traveled for work often. Even with the occasional unsettling experience the flight was the the easiest part. Driving out of the car rental lot in an unfamiliar car in an unfamiliar city with a crappy GPS at dark was extremely nerve racking.

When were you at Mayport Old Plug? I was stationed there from 87 until I got out in 90. We didn't have the opportunity to go for a ride, but all we had at the airfield then were helos.
