Mitch f Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Lilley, Fishin Wrench, and Al. I would put them against most anyone else if the competition was within their element. As for as "Pro's", without consideration to time, Glenn Andrews, Dance and Roland. KVD would be a distant 4th. Never fished with wrench or Phil but I know Al is extremely good "Honor is a man's gift to himself" Rob Roy McGregor
Old plug Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 You know why you do not see some of them out there don't you Bill???? They cannot afford the cost of competing and do not have the connections to get on some of these tours. Others have given up the tournament game because of some of the things they have seen and they feel about it overall. I know a family that everyone from grandpa down to the grand kids or on tour. But its not fair to some of those who want to climb that later. Myself there is just something about on or near the water it is the whole experience out there for me.
Quillback Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Aaron Martens is a pretty darn good bass fisherman especially with finesse stuff.
dtrs5kprs Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 I will tell you there are multi species fishermen out there that are without a doubt better all arounders than some of the derby winners. Guys that can throw a fly 150 ft. with 6X. Read a locater and catch fish on a baitcaster fish the salt and pretty much do it all. We will not hear of those guys. Like the Lindners and some of the other In Fisherman guys. Catch anything, anywhere. Pros...Gary Klein is a pretty darn good stick, has won with everything from finesse to flip to cranking grass, and has done it for 30 years or more.
Sprint21fter Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Not there yet, but look for Chris Zaldain.
balsabee Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 My vote would be for Denny Brauer but I believe Brent Ehrler is closing in on everyone really fast.
Feathers and Fins Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 A lot of BASS anglers being talked about but, when you ask the questions of Fishermen could those guys compete against, Trout anglers, Saltwater anglers, Catfishermen etc. To be a fisherman to me says you are well rounded in catching all species of fish not one species or in tournament settings but in actually being able to go out on any body of water with any techinque and produce fish. A fisherman to me needs to be well rounded in the art of fishing not competing on a body of water where they get practice days etc. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
kjackson Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Al Lindner is very, very good; Dance is good as well; for bass only, maybe Alton Jones, but Zaldain is worth watching. David Dudley is also good...I'm seem to like the guys who have a background in fishing for more than one species.
Quillback Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Best all around fisherman is probably somebody none of us have heard of. Some of the all around guys I see mentioned here are famous, but that doesn't mean they are the best. You can look pretty good when you have the time and money to travel around and cherry pick the best fishing and hire a local guide to get you on the fish.
Feathers and Fins Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 If i had to guess where the best fisherman would be from it would be south florida and one of the guides out of that area. They have to be well rounded in Baitcasting, Spincasting and fly fishing. They have to be able to produce in open Ocean, Flats, Brackish water, Back country rivers and creeks, Tidal zones and freshwater canals and lakes. Those guys have the deepest understanding of "fishing" then most people I have met. You could drop them off on any water and they would be able to find a way to produce. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
