abkeenan Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 That Livingston bait looked pretty "well loved" to have just been pulled out. Everybody is a cynic when is comes to stuff like this. Guy had just gotten off the water and was so excited about his day and chances to win the super bowl of fishing tournaments I highly doubt he just went out of his way to beat up a sponsors lure to make it look like that is what he was using. I for one believe him 100% that is what he used. Fisherman are a gullible bunch but this an instance of someone being honest. If he was just a sponsor pimping type guy why even mention he caught the majority of fish on a NON SPONSOR Rapala bait? Or show it in the boat along with the Livingston he used?

That video with Hite shows the scars on the bait, and if you really want to look, his hands. Although they were talking about them shaking, not how chewed up they were. Not planning to rush right out and buy any, because it is not really my sort of bait. Seems pretty straight up though.

I am not into the Livingston stuff either. There have been PLENTY of baits come and go over the last 20 years that have blinking lights, emit biological prey sounds (ut hum Hydrowave),have laser lights and all sorts of stuff and Livingston has some of that built into them and I am not into that stuff.
fishingaddiction Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I think Howell is telling the truth about the livingston lure in the Davy Hite interview. As has been said already, he seems to be a strait forward hard working country boy with a flat top haircut. He certainly put a hurtin on the fish and the rest of the field on the final day. The Go pro vid was very cool with all the people on the bridge and up on the bank cheering with every fish caught. Put yourself in Howell's shoes.....that would have been the ultimate adrenaline rush. What seemed very odd to me was the way E squared acted when Davy interviewed him on the ramp. He was reluctant to show his fish from the live well, or show the baits he was using and you could tell he just didn't really want to answer any of the questions. I suppose he was just upset that he knew he didn't have enough to win. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
Alex Heitman Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Yeah I felt bad for Edwin as well. He said in 15 mins he lost a 6 1/2, 5, and 4 1/2 pounders. Last year he lost the AOY on the final day of the elite series. He has just had bad luck in the clutch situations lately.
Champ188 Posted February 26, 2014 Author Posted February 26, 2014 My opinion is that Edwin showed his true colors at the ramp. Sorry, just not a fan. And that's pretty good to be able to eyeball lost fish to the half-pound. How many of those were captured on camera? LOL
Alex Heitman Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Haha yeah champ I know what you mean. But he only lost by 2 lbs and if he did lose 3 bigger fish I could see why he was frustrated.
Sprint21fter Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I would show my true colors if I knew I lost the classic. I wouldn't be rude to nobody but I would be very dragged down. Its hard to say what I would really do if I was in that situation. "I guess I would be professional" about it. Tough situation to go through. Never have been around Edwin, will maybe find out what he is like when they come to Table Rock. I know Roland Martin isn't the greatest person to be around.
willyfish Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I think some people are over reacting to the Hite conversation with Evers. He opened his rod box and pulled three rods out, said he had a couple megabass cranks and a vibrating jig on. He didn't display it for the camera but I think Hite was there to just get a few quick comments when they pulled out of the water. Evers was signing autographs when Hite approached him and seemed alright considering he knew he was short. These guys know what weight they got and they talk to each other, he knew he lost. As for as showing his fish why would he at the ramp, that's silly. I was surprised he pulled out what he did. Hite even said I'm not messing with your livewell.
J-Doc Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 I can't believe this is still going. Three things are obvious to me.... A. Some of you do not have access to water and cannot go fishing (lake still froze over?) B. Some of you NEED access to water to go fishing C. Someone will always be unhappy about pro's plugging their sponsors and that's never going to change So let's all go fishing and report back with pictures of fish. We can all agree that we like looking at photos of big fish WE catch..... Need marine repair? Send our own forum friend "fishinwrench" a message. He will treat you like family!!! I owe fishinwrench a lot of thanks. He has been a great mechanic with lots of patience!
