fishingaddiction Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 No complaints on the spots! Are you at the weigh ins, Tim Still at work. Will give you a call or text when we are on our way over to the lake. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
Jerry Rapp Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 obviously the bigger fish are still out deeper or suspended. I wonder if anyone will figure it out. Maybe one of them old deep diving suspending rouges? It will probably be a blue bird day tomorrow. Cold/fog in the morning, slick conditions. It will be interesting.
Quillback Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Mark Davis is now leading. But it's tight at the top, a lot of guys in contention. http://www.bassmaster.com/tournaments/are-truck-caps-bassmaster-elite-table-rock-lake/leaderboard
Bill Babler Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 MDC determined that LOZ was just to far North to get the growth for the K's. This is also based on the forage on LOZ that does not have a threadfin shad population, but only a gizzard shad population. Again to far North. Table Rock with its deep clear water and one of the largest thread fish populations of any lake allows the Spotted bass however slow growers to live a much longer life and repopulate a body of water this is not supplemented by stocking. 90 percent of the time the spotted bass does not occupy the same terrifirma as the LM or the Sjaw. Spotted bass here for the most part are like walleye, they love to suspend and live on the end of very deep runnouts and are continusly moving. Smallmouth are really mostly feeders of shoreline forage consisting of a huge diet of insects and small sunfish, not to mention eating LM and spotted bass fry. Of course they will eat a crawdad or a shad at the drop of the hat, but they are not in anyway threatened by Spotted bass on Table Rock lake. That is why we have the 15 inch limit. This will also allow the bigger K's to eat and work on the gizzard population. Going to be a great finish to this derby http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Feathers and Fins Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 LOZ has had a 12 inch limit on spots for many years, and the lake is doing very well. Al Agnew and others always support removing as many spots as possible out of the rivers so the smallies can grow bigger. Would removing a bunch of spots let the TR smallies get bigger? Maybe Dale Hollow size fish are possible? 6 to 8 lb smallies, I think 99% would like that. Maybe a 12 inch length limit on Spots would help keep the meat hunters from taking 15.01 inch long LM's and Smallies to the fish cleaning station? These debates are always interesting, but we do pay taxes so the "experts" can impose proper regulations. Keep an eye on Beaver over the next 5 years to see if the size of its Smallies and Lmb's increase with the reduced length limit on Spots. If it does then there would be some argument for doing on TR. but right now with TR's size and make-up I don't know if it would be good. TR spots at least from those I have caught always seem to be nice healthy and chunky. Beavers do not have near the chunk to them that the Rocks do but it will be interesting to see if the reduced length makes a difference. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
Bill Babler Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Looks like Mark Davis is casting a biffle hard head with a strike king plastic of some kind. Also, has some cranks tied on for decoys. Im sure he is throwing a crank to. GoPro from yesterday showed a wobblehead of some kind. He is definitely fishing a little deeper instead of in having the boat in 10-12ft he is off in maybe in 15-20 throwing up to 10ft. Did you also notice that he is reeling that bait and not working it? I'm a little familiar with it, but really a novice at throwing it. Is the technique to fish it like a jig or drag it or swim it. Looked like Mark was slowly swimming it or schronging it Nice post Sprint http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com

Would not be surprised if they are in more competition with the whites for food and habitat.

If you try to fish it like a FB jig or shakey head it seems less effective. Kind of gets not quite stuck then pops loose.

Kind of gets not quite stuck then pops loose. I've pitched it around docks on TR, some days it is the bomb. Last summer it worked real well for me on rocky banks early in the morning. Awesome technique to have in the arsenal. Drag it and maintain bottom contact.
