dblades Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 I think about half the field will be wondering today where all the short fish from yesterday went. They are complaining but about 100 guys caught limits?
abkeenan Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 First of all, I think the BASS pros are entitled to an opinion about the lake. They spend lots of days on the water all over the place, they know a liittle something about fishing. Now, if they let one tough day color their opinion that's silly. I don't think their opinion should carry any more weight than Sac River Jim's or mine or anymore else that fishes here. But, management decisions should be science based in conjunction with the desires of the local fishing community. We've had interesting discussions about the 15 inch spotted bass limit before. We can discuss it again, but those that are passionate about it are not likely to change their opinions. ^-----THIS Secondly, the main one making a stink does so about every other tournament and the excuses run the gamut from motor issues, locals hole jumping his spots to even to place blame on other BASS Elite Anglers causing him to miss hours of fishing in a tournament due to holding up the lock times on a river. I think his sponsors pay him to be the loudmouth of the sport because he gets more media coverage and newspaper face time for spouting off than he does for actually winning or placing well in tournaments. Like others have said, the ones catchin' them aren't the ones complaining....go figure.
Sac River Jim Posted April 4, 2014 Author Posted April 4, 2014 i dont fish many tournaments anymore cause i'm my moms primary care giver and cant committ the time. I used to work very hard getting prepared every week. I've always said its like a second job. Champ maybe the elites should take a lesson from you and your wife i've seen your post where you and your wife were out on the lake when the rest of us were curled up next to the fireplace. I've started fishing in a crappie club last couple of years and ive learned something that i'm really having alot of problems with almost every time we launch. i sit out in the boat at the launch site chomping at the bit waiting for 7:00am to roll around and the closer to 7:00 it gets the more pumped i get and when i see those boats ahead of me start shooting out of the hole my adrenalin lvl is so high the race is on. i have a real hard time slowing my fishing down enough to catch those little salt and peppered fish. i still have that tendency to run and gun from one area to the other and i dont take the time to cover the area im fishing thoroughly. my point is is you have to work at learning to fish this lake and to do that you have to be on it more than 6 or 7 days every few years. i'll give you a good example stockton and table rock are my primary lakes and ive fished them enough over the years i do pretty good on a relatively consistent basis. I dont know pomme very well i only started fishing it last year but when im bass fishing i catch 13'' fish and when i'm crappie fishing i catch 9'' and less fish. some good points were made in this discussion and i thank all of you for your input but i do want to clarify one thing i dont wear panties lmao!!!! i put my pants on one leg at a time just like everyone else including the pros and at any given time myself or any of you are capable of putting that big bite in the boat. tight lines!!!
Old plug Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 MOGUY------- Do not bet they are the best of the best. Some of them or very nice people I am sure. But the main bussiiness of all this stuff is sell at whatever they can get you to pay. And a awful of fishermen fall for it like white bass on a feeding frenze.
Seth Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Well what else was Ish Monroe going to use as an excuse for not doing very well yesterday?
fishingaddiction Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Well what else was Ish Monroe going to use as an excuse for not doing very well yesterday? The Rock is not Ish's deal. If he can't pitch a black/blue creature bait with a 2 oz slip sinker in the green slope he's lost. Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
96 CHAMP Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 you guys post some great articles and have some awesome opinions, I enjoy reading them. Am i hearing that all that money and prestige they have as ELITE can't bye them the bite thay want??? I'm sure they work hard, traveling and running all the time across the country but bottom line is they are just spoiled rotten, hell they probably get anything they want.
Quillback Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 The Rock is not Ish's deal. If he can't pitch a black/blue creature bait with a 2 oz slip sinker in the green slope he's lost. Yep, one of those deals where you get a bite, set the hook, and then using your extra heavy flipping stick, and 65 lb. braid, reel in a big ball of weeds that has a bass hidden in there somewhere. Doesn't look like much fun to me, but to each his own.
Feathers and Fins Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 The word “Elite” has always bothered me, I wrote an article about 10 years ago about venomous reptile keepers as many times I heard people refer to them as “Elite” and that really did bother me and several people I knew as we felt we were no better or no worse than anyone else could be. The difference I always felt was not the word or sponsors TV or anything as silly as notoriety but how much time and effort the person put in to what they were doing. Reptile keeping was a love and passion and something many put a great deal of time in to learning and all the cost that goes with it. Cost is a limiting factor and one that prohibits many people both in fishing and reptile keeping. Venomous reptile keeping is expensive and like it Pro-fishing is expensive. The other similarity is the amount of time a person puts in to education. And like venomous reptile keeping being a good fisherman you have to has a lot of education. Education is not always book smart but hands on experience as well. Money and Education seem to be what makes others better than some or most, but I have always contended that neither will limit anyone if they have the passion and drive at it. But to call anyone “Elite” is laughable! It is a pedestal title and nothing else. I say that as I believe that if you take anyone who has a love and passion for something will put the time in to it to be the best. When it comes to fishing I know there are guys on the lakes the pros fish that would out fish the pro every day and twice on Sunday unless they are golfing in the morning. Be the best you can be and if you are a pro, remember how lucky and god blessed you are to be doing what millions wish they could be doing. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Beaver-Lake-Arkansas-Fishing-Report/745541178798856
