Ham Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 I As I said previously, I admit the dog should not have gone up onto the property and it would ultimately have been my fault if she had been shot. .. I don't agree. Some jackass with a gun shoots a young dog that is on "his" land without regard to any other aspect of the digs behavior is at fault. That guy is out of control and needs a visit from law enforcement. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish
SmallyWally Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 I think Al and FF lost focus of this discussion. Hope you both do not run into a fellow like this with or without a dog. A mistake shouldn't always involve shooting or killing, unless extremely warranted. Kindness is the language the blind can see and the deaf can hear.-- Mark Twain

Flysmallie Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 You might start a really ugly situation because of your intolerance. And lose any respect you had by making comments like that.
Hog Wally Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 I've seen good times go bad cause someone had to bring their dog to the creek or river.
moguy1973 Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 I am having a hard time understanding why someone would take their new, untrained dog to a creek fishing with them. I wouldn't want the dog trouncing through the water scaring off the fish. Kind of counter productive if you ask me. It also wouldn't allow for much time fishing if you are tending after your dog the whole time. -- JimIf people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles. -- Doug Larson
Members doohickey Posted September 25, 2014 Author Members Posted September 25, 2014 It was more of an opportunity to work with the dog really. And she's not completely untrained, I've been working with her for almost 6 months. I had been painting my house all day and just wanted to take a little trip, figured I'd take the pole with me. I have a boat and normally go to the lake (with my dog, every time). Guess I'll just stick to the lake.
Flysmallie Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 My buddy takes his dog on every float that we go on and it's never been trained and also never been a problem. I don't understand why it's anyone's business if you take your dog or not as long as it's not a nuisance. People are forgetting that the dipshit with the gun is the issue.
Guest Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Lets stop all the dog hating & finger pointing. The gun toting idiot is negligent, lets not lose sight of that. People take dogs down to the creek all the time. I've had a dog try to attack me on clear creek, but i didnt shoot it. Instead, I redirected it with a Falcon Lowrider. End of story. There are ways of dealing with this issue other than discharging a firearm.
