abkeenan Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 For those that haven't seen it...the first Wiggle Wart ad from my 1976 bassmaster magazine. Pretty cool. Put it on Ebay and you might be surprised with a ridiculous price too.
5bites Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 I painted 4 pre rapalas in V62 this weekend. They're not for sale, but for addiction of catching fat smallmouth. I saw those on fb. As I said there I'm impressed! Would love to see them finished in matte clear.
Guest Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 I saw those on fb. As I said there I'm impressed! Would love to see them finished in matte clear. Im actually buying a matte clear tonight, called plastidip Its supposed to leave the bait with a matte yet spongy finish like Lucky Craft uses on their craws.
Champ188 Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 They'll look great with that matte clear, TrophyFishR.
fishinwrench Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 I'm about ready to go thru my crankbait boxes and will probably pawn off a few WW's so what is the distinguishing factor between original/new ? There are a few in there that I'm not sure about.

There are a few in there that I'm not sure about. Pre-Rapala STORM wiggle warts will have "wiggle wart" printed on the underside of the bill. These are the sought after models. The newer Rapala made warts will have the STORM logo printed on the underside of the bill. That is the easiest way to determine what warts you have. Colors are a little different then than they are now and on some/most of the old ones you can see the two halves glued together unevenly whereas the new ones have a lot better quality control and you won't have that "seam" like the old ones. Also sometimes you can tell its older just by components. If it still has an O-Ring line tie and small chromed treble hooks good chance it is an older model Pre-Rapala wart. In the mid 90's they starting using the speed clip/fast lock swivel deals which they still use now as well. Also "wiggle wart" was printed on the side rear section of the bait and those are also very early model wiggle warts from the 70's and early 80's. The Rapala take over of STORM was somewhere around 1999-2001 or so.Ned Rig Dave might know if he could get his nose out of Coach K's playbook planning for the upcoming hardcourt season.
fishinwrench Posted December 10, 2014 Posted December 10, 2014 So it's all in the stamp on the underside of the bill ? That's frustrating, some of mine are custom painted so I guess there's no way to confirm ?

If I had them in hand I could probably tell you. Like I said look for the uneven seam or halves going down the middle of the bait. New ones will not be off like the old ones. Send them to me and I will confirm or deny them as pre rap warts....for a price. lol. Sac River Jim 1
