abkeenan Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Do ya'll believe the pre rapala models catch more fish than the new "original" wiggle wart? Im just curious, is this is an urban legend or does it really matter? It would be cool to experiment with 2 identical colors but different model wiggle warts, just lay both rods on deck & see what happens. Oh boy. Here we go. Ham Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 I catch zero fish on originals and rapala's version if that helps you any. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future. On Instagram @hamneedstofish

Ham, Here's the deal, if its windy I would force myself to fish the wiggle wart all day until you start catching them. Bluff ends, channel swing banks, 45 degree banks on the mainlake or mouth of coves. I could mark up a map, having never fished Bull Shoals, just based on those criteria. if that will help
mixermarkb Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 Falcon Cara Reaction CCB-4-17MR "medium runner". Great tip, good parabolic bend, and a little more backbone than lots of medium action crankbait rods to help get those hooks set and control the occasional big bass. As for old vs new.. I have more confidence in the old ones, but there are several variants of the old ones. I think a great wart fisherman could do just fine on the new ones compared to an average fisherman with the old ones, but a great wart fisherman, with a great old wart (not all old warts are great ones) would truly put some hurt on the bass.

5bites Posted November 26, 2014 Posted November 26, 2014 I use a 7-1 medium 13 Fishing Omen. Those omens fish well above their price.
Champ188 Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 I've talked to some very good Wart fishermen who say there isn't a gnat hair's difference in the pre-Rapala models and the "new" original models.

fishingaddiction Posted November 27, 2014 Posted November 27, 2014 I don't have many pre rapala warts and the colors aren't good, but I don't have any trouble catching them on the new ones including Brads wigglers. As far as my small to medium size crank rod, I use a 7' med action Abu Veritas winch series and Lews 5.4:1 reel. Very light set up, cast very long, soft tip but with some backbone. This combo is perfect for square bills also. I hope your right about the HOGS winning denjac cause I would hate for you to loose your war eagles. WPS! Born to Fish. Forced to Work.
