TRRANGER Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I am a fan of the prescription Oakley line of lenses. They seem to be the best at no distortion on wrap around lens prescription sunglasses. I buy a pair about every 4 years due to my eyes changing more than anything. They are pricey but I think worth every penny and they last me a long time so its not so bad. crazy4fishin 1
ness Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Thanks for passing along that Champ188. I'm gonna have to get some new prescription sunglasses because my eyes have gotten worse. I have had a pair of Smith (Action) Optics prescription glasses for a long time -- 10+ years. I've broken the frames twice, and they replaced them free of change both times. Not sure what they'd do on lenses -- I haven't needed that. The last time they came back they had really polished up the lenses for me. I don't think there's a coating on them to fail -- it looks internal. BTW, I always have mine on a strap around my neck, and always put them in the compartment in the car or the hard case when they're off. And I only wash them with plain dish soap and my bare fingers, then pat dry with a cloth. Champ188 1 John

And he had the same experience with broken frames, etc. Replaced at no charge, no questions asked. I swear, if I'm not mistaken, he LOST his one time and they replaced them for him.
Jason R. Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 I've gotten my Harpoons fixed a couple times and Costa always has great CS. I would throw Smith in the ring too- they make a great pair of glasses and have CS at least as good as Costa- probably better. Champ188 1 http://flyinthesouth.com/

I really, really do try to take care of my stuff. But since August 7, 2013, I have been tested over and over again. That's when Ruby, our adorable Brittany puppy, arrived. Ruby likes to chew. A lot. On anything. She just needs to be able to reach it -- that's the only criteria. And you don't always know what she can reach until it's too late. Well, turns out she can reach up to the sunglasses compartment above the mirror in my car. I'm a believer in integrity, and I also believe it goes both ways. Sure, I could conjure up some story and probably wrangle another pair of frames out of Smith, (it's just little ol' me versus the big corporation, right?), but I won't. Time for me to suck it up and buy some new ones. Guess who'll get the first shot at selling me some new glasses? Daryk Campbell Sr 1 John
fishinwrench Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Ruby ? Hey, it's only fair. Orion chews everything that doesn't belong to ME. He is such a good boy Everyone else is sick of him.
ness Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 Orion chews everything that doesn't belong to ME. Is it the smell? John
fishinwrench Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 There's a thought that never occurred to me.
vacation Posted March 18, 2015 Posted March 18, 2015 I too have had AMAZING customer service response with costa. I sent in a pair with scratched lenses that were totally my fault and told them that. Sent them in for $10 and they sent me new glasses. Did the same thing with maui jims and had EXCELLENT serVice there as well. Both excellent companies to work with. I now only buy costas or maui jims
Champ188 Posted March 18, 2015 Author Posted March 18, 2015 I will say again, you (usually) get what you pay for ... and sometimes in ways beyond the product itself, such as over-and-above customer service and warranty backing.
