MOPanfisher Posted January 5, 2023 Posted January 5, 2023 I don't think hamburger helper gets enough publicity! Had to take wife to ER, don't go to ER unless you are about to die for real. 3 trips back and forth to Spfld in 24 hrs. Taking care of stuff at home and hanging around thinking she would be out soon. She is a bit nauseous still and basic hamburger helper is one of the few things that sounded good to her so being me I would have driven back to sofld if necessary but found some at the local DG. And I gotta admit I ki d of like Hamburger Helper although I usually use it as a.starting point and add stuff to it but this time I kept it plain for her. Here is to Hamburger Helper, it ain't just for those who can't cook or broke students. This one hasn't quite soaked up all the liquid yet needs a few more minutes. rps, Quillback, Johnsfolly and 2 others 5

This year I found some pork country ribs. My rub consisted of garlic powder, Asian 5 spice, smoked paprika, and brown sugar. Browned the meat and used chicken stock and pilot grigio wine as braising liquid. Added whole garlic cloves and chunked onions. Cooked at 325 for almost 2 hours then added sauerkraut to the Dutch oven. Cooked another 30 mins. Served with mashed potatoes. Pork, sauerkraut and five spice are a great combination. Johnsfolly 1

Johnsfolly Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 A big part of going after the herring was to try and make some meals with this fish. We had never eaten herring. I have had sardines before. With only three fish I was limited to only a single dish. I found a fish with marinara recipe online and went with that one. We used the small italian cipollini onions which we just peeled and left whole. Coarse mince on 8 garlic cloves (actually could have used more garlic). Added to ceramic baking dish with olive oil. Mixed in a can of crushed tomatoes and a can of Italian stewed tomatoes that I gave a fine chop. Mixed in about a tablespoon of oregano and another of basil. Put into 375 deg oven for ca. 25 mins. until the sauce was bubbling. I added the cleaned herring fillets and covered with the sauce. Cooked until the pasta was done then served. Note to self would be to cook the onions longer before adding in the fish. Also as mentioned more garlic! Could have used some crusty bread as well. Daryk Campbell Sr 1
