I love Chicago Dogs!!

I had never heard of one until I was working for the RR in KC. We had to go to the UP Amourdale yard to get a Stacker. On the way, my conductor asked if I'd like to get a Chicago dog while we waited. I told him I had never heard of such but, yeah, I'll eat one.

He knew of this little hole in the wall in Argentine KS. It was a small place on some old downtown street. Wasn't big enough to hold 10 people from what I can remember. I followed his lead and preceded to have the best dog I ever had in my life!

And I've been addicted ever since!!

I love stories like this! The kind of stories that evoke memories, tell of fantastic finds, and make you wish you had been there.

One year when I used to travel with my mother as her kennel help (she bred and showed dogs) we were forced to detour onto a two lane road in Indiana. We stopped at a diner in a small town. The food was good, but we also ordered a slice of their homemade ice box pies (chocolate for me and coconut cream for my mother). To this day, those pies are the memory benchmark for all others. We never did find the same place again, even though we always got off the main roads in Indiana.

A few zukhint slices on the grill to go with a Greek chicken something or other my wife made in the crockpot. Painted with garlic butter and some seasoning salt or Paula Deenes seasoning.

Well I see flowing water, a gravel substrate and green growth. What am I missing? Is your mug reflected in the water? Is there a projectile point laying on the bottom? Are you toying with me? You sure there is nothing to eat in that photo?

Is that Ham's garden? Might have overwatered it a bit. Pretty sure that all those greens are edible and probably taste as good as kale.

That's about what my garden looks like minus the gravel aftwr several days of rain.
