Pan first some scallops in butter last night. Looked great, wife loved it. Kids did not like the texture, but ate it anyway. Best result you can get with kids and new to them foods mostly.

My wife and I are blessed with adventurous eater children - except Emily and green peas. Anyway, short story ... when Abigail, the younger by 3 and a half years, was around three?, Nancy and I found some beautiful artichokes at the store in Tulsa. We grabbed them and steamed them for leaf dipping in butter. When we served we gave one to the older daughter Emily but not one to Abigail. Emily copied what we did with the leaves, and then Abigail piped up, "Where's my choke?"

The corgis and I survived the overnight thunderstorms. If I had not had them to protect me by covering me with their bodies, it might have ended badly.

This morning, because it was cold and windy, I did not fish. Instead I took a drive to Kimberling City to shop at the Harter House grocery.

I have one of their Chicken Kievs ready to bake with sides of rice and sauteed Brussels sprouts/mushroom/bacon.

I am going to have to suffer through some grilled walleye fillets, oven roasted taters, and a skillet of fried apples.  Specifics, walleye fresh from the last couple nights seasoned with butter garlic lime, and a variety of pics including season salt and old Bay,  little round whole taters, no idea where my wife found them and the fried apples are whatever was on sale liberally coated with sugar and cinnamon some dried apricots and dried cranberries and given a taste of butter in the skillet.

The fried apples are a favorite of my elderly mother.  She doesn't eat much but will eat them and keep the leftovers to eat the next day.  She also ate her share of the grilled fish. I could pretty much live on grilled and fried fish along with taters.

Mzrealfish if only I had a few thin slices to that to put on my burgers!

Tonight is back to basics again, 1 pound of burger, add some instant onion soup mix, bacon and worchester sauce.  Divided into 4 patties.  Put a good sized ice of velveeta in the middle and seal the edges.  Stumble outside and pick a little fresh asparagus and supper prep is in the bag.  A couple warm days after this rain and maybe I can find some morels too.  Still hoping to feel up to a late night walleye trip but the dr. Appt and allergies have knocked me on my butt. Gotta restock the walleye fillets.

MOPanfisher - I understand about restocking. I finished the last of the panko crusted fried crappie in a sandwich yesterday for lunch. Got to go get some more. Maybe while my betterhalf is out looking for morels:).
