And, one of my personal favorites — Shepherd’s Pie. Done with Guinness in the gravy this time. Updating the recipe 😄

Ness - Good looking bread and a fine shepherd's pie! Guinness in the gravy sounds excellent!

Well the good news is one of my big chest freezers has been defrosted.  The bad news is that it was not intentional.  Went over to get something out for supper tomorrow night and hmmmm, this stuff is partly thawed,  well CRAP.  this is why I have 2 big chest freezers, one is now very full if it quits well I am gonna be reduced to eating hay.  The one that quit had a fair amount of the recent half a hog and all of my wife's dead deers, plus the hamburger from the half beef, all my summer sausage, and my supply of fish fillets.  Now the older.freezer is VERY full, even threw out a few things.  I think something electrical happened to one leg of my service yesterday.  Well was fine in morning, and the low pressure cutoff tripped before noon, requiring a trip home to reset it. The newer freezer must not have liked it, the slightly older one didn't seem to mind and they are both plugged into the same outlet.  So looks like I have saved everything but there are no baskets left in them, I needed every bit of space, and it is very randomly scattered wherever I could find space for it.  Now to see if I can find a repair guy or if being unplugged and rattled around a bit will bring it back to life.  I am not optimistic on that.

Sorry for your troubles. Hope you ultimately lose little.

Tonight we enjoyed beef stew in stout with pickled walnuts, mashed potatoes and seared zucchini.

Last night was a use what I can from the fridge. I found some white asparagus, onion, some bacon, a mix of sliced mushrooms (shitake, oyster, and portabella), some sliced ham, and a mix of cheeses ( @WoundedOne smoked cheddar, sharp cheddar, asiago/parmesan blend, and smoked provolone). I also found a third of a box of large shells and a half box of medium shells. I broke up the large shells so that the pasta would cook at the same rate. I sauted the bacon then added the onion and asparagus. Onc ethe onion was close to translucent I added the mushrooms, sweet basil, S&P., kickin chicken spice. I drained the pasta and let it cool. Melted buter and added the cheese and aome milk to make a cheese sauce. Mixed the pasta and the meat/veg mixture in a casserole then the cheese sauce. Topped with more shredded cheddar and baked for 30 mins.

No photos but it ended up a pretty tasty dish 😁.
