A local band gave my daughter and I tickets to a big show last night. Their singer/guitarist gave her a T-shirt and I tried to buy her. CD but he gave it to her instead.

Me: At least let me buy you a beer. What’ll you have?

Tuck: PBR man!!!

Me: Perfect.

Yesterday I read a screed on cultural appropriation. The trigger (I am beginning to hate how people use that word as a verb!) for the diatribe was a Caucasian girl wearing a kimono at a fancy party. The girl did not have on kabuki make up, nor did she wear wooden clogs. Nonetheless, the writer claimed to be horribly offended and lectured her readers on why that was offensive.
What brought this to mind was what Nancy and I have done and continue to do today.
I just finished using wonton wrappers (what I could find since I did not wish to make and roll my own dough) to make 50 garlic ginger dumplings to fry tonight.
Right now we are using the meat sauce I made this morning to make a tray of lasagna to bake tomorrow after school.
I suppose, to avoid "triggering" some food Nazi, I should call them imitation dumplings and the pasta imitation lasagna.
Does this mean I have to give up French cooking, too?

Been to busy to cook but doing some today. Found a great deal on some bone in pork loin. $13 for this mess. 6 double bone chops and 1.5lbs for pork & beans. Rib eyes, Brussels and Caesar salad with homemade dressing for dinner. Dressing with raw egg and anchovy.

               Nice Gavin,

We do homemade Cesar dressing like that. Makes you want to gag at the bottle stuff.

With the weather change keeping us close to home and off the water food and food prep made the day better. Two dishes for today and one for meals this week. So at noon took out of the freezer some duck legs that had been done Confit. Still in the vac bag in the fat that it had been sous vide in. Peeled the meat off the bone and prepped it in the duck fat and butter and some chopped garlic while the pasta was getting happy,thumbnail_0331191220a_HDR.jpg   Drained the pasta and put in the meat plus some lemon juice and lemon zest. Hot Dang! Good lunch,thumbnail_0331191233.jpg   For this week when cooking can be a pain as late as the Mrs. Gets home from work Pat made a quiche with sausage split cherry tomatoes green onions and sharp cheddar cheese,thumbnail_0331191419_HDR.jpg    So while all this stuff was going on I hot smoked some of the white bass fillets @ 230 with Alder. A sprinkle of kosher salt was all it had on it,thumbnail_0331191445_HDR.jpg    Some of this went into the Vietnamese smoked fish salad we just polished off. My tummy is so satisfied right now,thumbnail_0331191658.jpg  I have made a decision that if the white bite happens again I will keep a few more to smoke. Vac bag them up for easy meals like this and making smoked fish dip,

It would sure be nice if you moved a bit further south.

No pressure.
