We had bone in ribeye and a 14 ounce lobster tail last night from Harter House in Hollister.  Home grown tomatoes, baby white corn on the cob and cheese garlic bread.  Vacation in the the Ozark's rocks!

I want some!

Yesterday was clean out the fridge day. found some black Angus rib eyes and marinated those in a finely ground BBQ rub consisting  of dried red and green bell peppers, dried garlic, sea salt, ground black pepper corns, and dried hot red pepper flakes, Worcestershire sauce ,about 1/2cup, and 1/4 cup olive oil in a big zip lock bag and placed the steaks side by side in the bag turning them over about every 2 hours .let those soak for about 7 hours in the fridge.  man those rib eyes really got tender!

OK here's the buffet list lol, grilled rib eye over a oak and hickory  fire- no charcoal, leftover KFC slaw and KFC mashed taters W/gravy ,a salad mix from the store that needed to be eaten that day , homegrown  maters, fresh picked sweet corn whatever the caterpillars left after they ate the ends off the cobs😄, fresh zucchini, yellow squash, red onion, red and green bell pepper, mushroom  shishkabobs in the oven with a salt and pepper honey glaze, some jalapeno corn bread I made a couple days ago, and homemade double dark chocolate chip brownies with  walnuts.  Needed 2 platters for everything, 🐷 out!

The potatoes are just potatoes, but the gravy is salty brown gravy goodness.  Which leads to the eternal debate, white gravy or brown gravy.  For me I like both, but if there is a choice I will take brown gravy for most things that don't involve biscuits.  A bowl of brown gravy to dip steak fries in, that when you know you are at a small resturant in the country, they don't even flinch when you ask for a bowl of gravy to use as a dipping sauce.

Agree on the KFC taters and gravy. Just had some yesterday. There’s a local chain called Go Chicken Go that has a yellowish translucent  gravy that’s really good too but kinda weird looking.

I love homemade white gravy, but it seems like almost every time I get it out it’s too thick and pasty. And like it came from a can.

Tonight was basic bacon wrapped meatloaf, some smashed taters that were abut half garlic and cheese, and I added a bunch of grilled zuchinni.  Nuttin fancy but pretty darn tasty.

1/4 c drippings (chicken, bacon, whatever)

1/4 c flour

1 tsp salt

1 tsp pepper

2c milk

Mix first 4 ingredients. Should be smooth not clumpy or too runny. Like making a roux sort of.

Let brown to your tastes. Slowly add milk while stirring. Stir to desired consistency.
