I have fifteen doves in the crockpot right now.  S&P and a little Head Country on the breasts, then in the crockpot.  They're braising in a cup of Sweet Baby Ray's original and a cup of root beer.  The smell is intriguing to say the least.  When we're ready to eat, I'll take the dove breasts out of the crockpot, put them on some parchment paper on a cookie sheet, brush with some more BBQ sauce and brown them under the broiler.  Sides will be baked sweet potato, green salad and corn on the cob.

I'm hopeful.  It was really hard not to do bacon wrapped dove jalapeno poppers.  But I'm trying to climb out of a rut.

edit:

I cook corn on the cob fully immersed, not steamed.  Add about a tbsp. of salt, tbsp. of sugar and 1/2 cup of milk to the boiling liquid.  Does anyone else do similar?

2nd edit:  I got a monkey jones on my back.  Serious wonder about what BH sauce would do.....

Salt and sugar but not milk. Baby bro does milk though.

NuWay, Maid Rite, Tavern or just loose-meat sandwiches. Ground beef seasoned with beef base and cooked in a couple cups of water until dry. Slider buns, ketchup, mustard, pickle and grilled onions. Doctored up baked beans, Cherokee Purple over cottage cheese and a red beer.

I took some of the hybrid I caught yesterday and chunked it up. I added some chunked salmon and other ingredients and I have fishburgers chilling in the refrigerator. I made a spicy peach salsa to go over the burgers. I am planning rice and seared asparagus sides.

The plan worked:

Went to the air show yesterday.  Rode my bike in since it was sold out.  15 miles but no traffic. Sat on the levee bike trail overlooking the airport.  Great seats actually.  Came back and put a stick of butter and a 28 ounce can of San marzono tomatoes in the pot with an onion.  Simmered for an hour until the tomatoes were creamy.  I poured mine over ribbon cut sirloin, girls had it on angel hair.  Delish!

If you haven’t seen the Blue Angels you should.  I’ve seen them over ten times.  The British Air Force and the F 22 were cool too.

Great shots from the air show.

The Marcella Hazen five ingredient sauce is difficult to beat. Fast and easy too.
