joeD Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 I assume the reason you guys re paint lures is because the colors the manufacturers use don't work, right? Pink works. Who knew?
jolicious Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 I assume the reason you guys re paint lures is because the colors the manufacturers use don't work, right? Pink works. Who knew? I personally don't repaint lures. That's a bunch of hassle just for a hobby. Of course pink works, just like any other color when thrown under the right conditions. I buy blanks online for $2-$3 and paint them because A. It relaxes me and B. I can end up with 4 or 5 lures for the price of one expensive one. Fish24/7, Hammer time and Champ188 3

joeD Posted September 2, 2015 Posted September 2, 2015 Can a fish see the color of a topwater lure, specifically, the top , or back, of the lure, the part not submerged? From a fish perspective, in the water, the only thing visible would be treble hooks. I seriously doubt that a fish could discern whether the top of the lure was white or black or green or purple or frog or tiger or flaming skulls that say "joeD Sucks." I think we put too much emphasis on color, rather than movement and size. You tinkerers' lures look great, by the way, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy any of them. I'm no different than anyone else. Hence, the multi billion dollar lure industry.
Ham Posted December 12, 2015 Posted December 12, 2015 The Spook paint jobs are very nice. It looks like those have the Charlie Campbell preferred nose tie position. I agree more with custom color top waters and jerk baits than crank baits, but I have some custom painted warts. They tend to get more try's than the std because why let me sit in the box. These days I throw a Super Spook Jr 9 times out of 10. I would throw the Full Size if fishing bigger water or more chop on the water. Every Saint has a past, every Sinner has a future.
