I have never seen it.

I think you’d really like it. The book is great too.

I finally saw the John Wayne version of The Alamo. Still need to see the Wake of the Red Witch to see the remaining movie where John Wayne dies. My have to buy that one to get to see it.

It’s on Netflix’s DVD service. I’ve never heard of if.

I love the Netflix DVDs. I think it’s $13 a month for as many movies as I want, with two at home at a time. Very rare they don’t have a movie. I love the special features on DVDs.

Thanks Ness. I'll have to check out Netflix. I do have an idea on how this one ends. Still need to see it.

Didn't really like The Big Sleep. Liked Key Largo Better. To have and Have not was the first Bogart and Bacall movie with the infamous "you know how to whistle Steve....." Lines.

Am a big Nicholson fan especially Cuckoos nest. Also the Shining. @Quillback no love for the Witches of Eastwick 😌?

I haven't seen the Witches of Eastwick in many moons, so long I can't remember the story line.  I'll have to watch it again.

I wouldn't bother since it really wasn't that good of a movie. At least in my opinion.

Watching Charles Bronson in Death Wish. Saw the Bruce Willis version this summer.

After thoroughly enjoying Lonesome Dove again I’ve got the prequel Comanche Moon queued up tonight. And laundry. High Noon  is next if I make it that far.

This is my number one favorite, ever. Ford made Rio Grande, a great film, as his payment for filming the Quiet Man. Back in the day, when movies appeared on three channel tv to coincide with seasons, my mother and i would watch the Quiet Man. We recited the dialogue as the characters said the lines.

Late in life, after Ford passed, Wayne made two movies worth keeping and showing. Watch The Cowboys and The Shootist. Please do not watch the movie for which he won the Oscar, True Grit.

Thanks for the history. I’d call this a top 5 for me. Hard to name a favorite.

I recorded this from TCM a couple years ago but hadn’t watched it recently. I enjoyed the TCM commentary. I guess Ford tried to get the movie made for years but couldn’t. Agreed to do a western —Rio Grande — in exchange for consideration of this.

The Cowboys is a great movie with great music. I remember hearing John Wayne told Bruce Dern everyone would hate him for what happens.

Haven’t seen The Shootist in many years though I need to.

The Shootist contains the very best statement by Wayne, ever.

“I won't be wronged. I won't be insulted. I won't be laid a-hand on. I don't do these things to other people, and I require the same from them.”
