Quillback Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 White Castle anyone? I can't find one - spent 6 hours last night driving around looking for one, had lots of adventures along the way. Back to the Buff - No one should think because I wear one that I LIKE wearing one. I had a couple of pre-cancerous spots removed from my lips last year, you can put sun screen on your lips and/or use chapstick type screens. But, it comes right off. I can cover my lips with the Buff and keep the sun off. Laugh if you want, but melanoma is a bad way to go. Hunter53 and Terrierman 2
Hunter53 Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Hunter, I'm not "so concerned" about it. I'm just having fun here. I'm outside all the time, so if I was a Buffster I'd have to own about 60 of them, and yes everyone that came to my shop would either tease me about it or talk about it behind my back. Would I care? Yeah. Obviously so do you. Honestly I truly don't give a crap what anyone says/thinks. Maybe in my younger days but not anymore. I am just having fun as well and was just giving you a hard time. Only guys I know concerned about what other guys are wearing seem to have a problem with limp wrists as well.

Just don't be offended if I don't recognize you solely by the sound of your voice. Hunter53 1
5bites Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 So now we know some are somewhat alarmingly concerned about what fishing lures others catch fish on and what they wear while fishing. Not only that but following them home to see what they wear then too? Wow. I don't know about all of you but when I go fishing, I fish. I'm worried about my own comfort and catch rate. Some of you act like junior high girls in a popularity contest. Btw I like bass blaster. I saw his point.

The sun is a constant problem for me, but some people are lucky and have the right type of skin and don't have to worry. When I was young and dumb(er) I didn't want to look like a geek, so I just got the burns and dealt with it. Not anymore though. John
5bites Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 Here's the exact one I have. It kicks butt in the cold. I have no idea about heat. It's probably a terrible color for that. I'm not sure I could wear one in warm weather anyway. I have thought about buying a full brimmed hat though for better shade and sun protection. They're goofy looking but I think it could help. http://www.hoorag.com/shop/all-bandanas/lunker-junkie/

In fact if you get them wet it will actually be cooler than nothing.
5bites Posted April 8, 2015 Posted April 8, 2015 I hadn't thought about dipping them. I need to buy my boys a couple. I can't start to early trying to protect them. Especially my oldest son. He was literally allergic to the sun when he was a toddler but now just fights some eczema. The dude loves fishing to much to keep him indoors.

I looked into a few versions when I decided to start giving myself a very thorough haircut a few years back. Ended up coming down on the side of using extra sunscreen. Overall it has worked well, and kept me from burning other parts that a buff would not cover. Hard to beat the frog when it comes to staying burn free.

Used to get burned pretty good.
