fishinwrench Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 If anyone truly cared about the treatment of bass there would be WAY fewer "tournaments" every weekend. Or at the very least...a smarter/easier way to keep score. fishingaddiction, abkeenan, dtrs5kprs and 3 others 6

Or at the very least...a smarter/easier way to keep score. Regarding the easier way to keep score....that is the format for the Major League Fishing circuit that KVD is involved with. Everything is video recorded, a marshall/scorer in the boat and they weigh fish immediately and put them back into the water after they agree on the weight. They count all the legal fish they catch. Interesting format. if that was the norm, it would not matter how many tournaments are on a lake every weekend IMO. Mike
Jerry Rapp Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 wow, I just clicked on this post. I thought it was about the fact that there were no fish in Aunts Creek. Champ188 1
Champ188 Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 Get off the golf course and wake up, Jerry! Just kiddin, been golfing instead of fishing the last two weekends myself.
5bites Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 I think we should all be fine with guys who follows game regulations. Our true beef should be with the guys who don't......short fish, over the limit, multiple limits in one day, illegal methods, etc. Those are the true thieves of our precious resource. Well said

Hunter91 Posted June 8, 2015 Posted June 8, 2015 M&M- I like the MLF format also but the last tourney I fished on TR had 60 boats in it. Thats not a big one either but you would have to find 60 judges for that many boats. Looks like that would be very difficult not to mention tourneys that are a lot bigger.

It would be fine with me but not possible. I don't mean to imply that I don't like weigh ins either because I do. If we get to carried away with this though we won't be able to use hooks to catch fish but will be required to ask the fish nicely to come to the boat. There's a point were you have to stop and there's always people that don't think that's enough. That's were I am with the cleaning fish and the tournament fishing critics. If it hurts your feelings that bad boys then just quit fishing because after all you are impaling an animal with a hook and that animal could die as a result every time you do it. So watch how loudly you complain about others. It may come back on you.
Champ188 Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 In addition to what Hunter pointed out above, MLF also has an additional camera boat with every competitor and the footage is aired on national TV. Without any such security, local anglers aren't going to trust local judges not to fib on catch weights and divide the winnings with the cheating angler. There's a strong mentality among amateur anglers that they need to see proof of what their competitors' caught.
