Members Grumpy53 Posted June 9, 2015 Members Posted June 9, 2015 I don't get to Table Rock a lot even though I have a good time there and access to a house and some good friends around Eagle Rock. This thread is so stupid it is ridiculous. You all sound like a bunch of GRADE SCHOOL KIDS. Shut up and go back to FISHING! purpleworm, wayneblevins and merc1997 Bo 3
Rickf Posted June 9, 2015 Author Posted June 9, 2015 I agree Grumpy, I started this thread to help the guys on the forum catch an extra fish or two. It turned into a crap storm, it use to be you meet a fisherman you could bet on that being a good person, not so much any more. I've been fishing all my life and raised my son to be a good fisherman. Here's a couple of pictures, one of me on my Dads lap and one of my now 27 year old son catching a KB twenty some years ago, so I don't it's that big a deal if once a year my buddy wants me to help him catch enough fish for a fish fry. I don't keep LM or SM but anything else will go on the table if I'm in the mood for fish. Phil Lilley, Deadstream and Scott Samuels 3
jmes Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Great picture and even a better " memories" . I agree and thank you for posting your day and time on the water. it's threads like this that keep other's from posting there time out on the water. Phil Lilley 1
Terrierman Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 If anyone truly cared about the treatment of bass there would be WAY fewer "tournaments" every weekend. Or at the very least...a smarter/easier way to keep score. Finally, something we are in 100% agreement on. A lot of this thread seems to be about somebody catching and keeping "my" fish. Deadstream 1
Terrierman Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 Exactly. It would be fine with me but not possible. I don't mean to imply that I don't like weigh ins either because I do. If we get to carried away with this though we won't be able to use hooks to catch fish but will be required to ask the fish nicely to come to the boat. There's a point were you have to stop and there's always people that don't think that's enough. That's were I am with the cleaning fish and the tournament fishing critics. If it hurts your feelings that bad boys then just quit fishing because after all you are impaling an animal with a hook and that animal could die as a result every time you do it. So watch how loudly you complain about others. It may come back on you. How hard could it be to take a photo of a fish being weighed and then of it being released back into the lake.
Members EddieRay Posted June 9, 2015 Members Posted June 9, 2015 What gets more pressure than Table Rock? I want to avoid that lake. Come fish Smithville or any lake on the Missouri side within an hour of Kansas City. All are more pressured than Table Rock, in my opinion. Members EddieRay Posted June 9, 2015 Members Posted June 9, 2015 I release every bass I catch, though I am aware of a few small lakes that need selective harvest to improve the size of the population. I tend to not fish those lakes due to the small size of the fish in them. Missouri biologists have determined what they deem to be appropriate creel limits to support a strong fishery for each body of water in the state. They do the intense research necessary to implement these limits. If someone is following those laws and limits, what real evidence do we have to condemn them for keeping fish. It amazes me how so many of us place more faith in our anecdotal experiences than we do in the studies performed by the MDC. So even though we've all been careful not to indict you and to repeatedly say that you did no wrong, those of us who were not thrilled by your pic of bass on a rope and merely spoke our minds about it on a public forum are now bad people? How do you justify that? Incidentally, that's a LM in your picture and not a K. Codywskeeter1521, Ketchup and Ham 3
Quillback Posted June 9, 2015 Posted June 9, 2015 One thing to think about when it comes to MDC (or any state fisheries agency) is that their limits on length size, etc., are a compromise of sorts. They have to try and meet the demands of anglers who want to keep fish, make sure there are numbers of sizeable bass for tourney anglers, etc., It's not about what's best for the fish, it's about making the fishing public happy. Members basscatfan Posted June 9, 2015 Members Posted June 9, 2015 RickF. Nice report. I thought like you did that most everyone here would be pretty much like minded since this is a fishing forum and we all love fishing. Boy was I WRONG! When I first came across this forum I thought it was awesome. But over the last 6 mo. I have lost a lot of respect for this forum. Between the personnel attacks and the belief that " if you don't do it like i do then your a no good s o b." This place reminds me of a bunch of girls squabbling over who has the best hairdo.
