balsabee Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 I pick up my trolling motor and plow past them and pull immediately in front of them and fish. I don't say anything unless they open their mouth first and then It's on. Champ188 1
Fish24/7 Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 it doesn't bother me at all if somebody cuts in front or comes up close to me when I'm fishing remember, it's all about the attitude
Champ188 Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 I agree, Champ. But what would you suggest besides telling them what you think? That's exactly what I'm suggesting ... tell them what you think and --- if they pull that lame "I'm fishing a tournament" line --- that their status as a tournament fisherman doesn't give them any standing above anyone else. I've fished tournaments from the club level to BASS Invitationals and I have never, ever cut anyone off ... fellow competitor or bream fisherman. Yes, I said never, ever and I stand behind that. My dad taught me better. Furthermore, every tournament I've ever fished has had a sportsmanship rule that clearly prohibits that kind of behavior. Codywskeeter1521, Smalliebigs and fishingaddiction 3
denjac Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 I pull in on champ all the time, under the pretext of fishing. My real motive is to see if Donna brought anything good to eat! Members Brennan Posted June 24, 2015 Author Members Posted June 24, 2015 i didn't really want to get sideways with these guys with my son with me. I did overhear the guys Saturday morning say they would leave the spot just as soon as they got five small keepers. I thought, my six year old would love to catch five small keepers, and they probably won't help you anyway. Sunday morning was more of a "bent rod" pattern.....boat driving by, sees my son reeling in a jumping bass.....and they just stop right on us. Every point around there had a few surfacing fish so I was surprised they thought something special was going on. My boy asked why they started fishing right there with us. I told him they saw him catching fish and knew it must be a good spot. He had picked the spot so he felt proud of himself. We left to avoid any problems. He picked the next spot and had continued success. I think you see this stuff most places. I know you sometimes have to share water, but this wasn't really sharing. Overall, not a big deal. Just thought I would mention it because I hadn't really seen it before at Table Rock. Hands down, Table Rock is still my favorite lake. I feel blessed to be able to share it with my son. Good luck. Thats a great outlook, good on you! If someone pulls up on me that close, I simply ask how they are doing, and if they are having any luck? If they arent having any luck than I try to help them as best as possible, although usually my advice isnt any better than what they are doing lol. There are always more spots to fish, as you noted your boy picked out another spot, and had continued success. Great day on the water!
Champ188 Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Can't get this kind of entertainment on the strip in Branson! Codywskeeter1521 and crazy4fishin 2
Codywskeeter1521 Posted June 24, 2015 Posted June 24, 2015 Again Common courtesy is a thing of the past. I have no problem voicing my opinion when someone pulls close to me. Champ188 1
Iclass Posted June 25, 2015 Posted June 25, 2015 When you or someone close to you gets shot on the water because of a dispute, you realize voicing your opinion on the matter means nothing... If someone doesn't think it's wrong to pull in that close, they don't care what your opinion is anyway

If someone doesn't think it's wrong to pull in that close, they don't care what your opinion is anyway Well maybe educating them Alittle might do them some good. I was taught at a very early age slow down for boats and don't just nose In on someone. It wasn't that I was preached about this I seen my grandpa just flip the boat around and we would hit another stretch of water or pull behind them. After asking why arent we fishing there and him saying they are already there son. I learned what he ment and have followed his lead. Guess not everyone has these values and if I can at least help 1 person understand the UNWRITTEN RULES OF THE LAKE might just save them a butt chewing in the future. Not everyone's opinions are screaming or yelling. Not saying most care but some didn't even know what they we're doing right or wrong. Most don't care like you said but some do.. magicwormman and abkeenan 2
