Ham, you "Cage the Elephant" fan!

They were fantastic when I saw them at Lolla and again when I saw them at Hangout Fest in Gulf Shores a few days ago. Really, really good live.

How was that?? I'm pretty jealous, been wanting to go for years but it always falls horribly with kids in school. I however spend a fair amount of time at the Hangout for a week every summer.

it seemed a lot better in 2014. This year it was a lot more "bros and hoes". I get that most there are going to be younger than me, but I just did not expect it to be as much of a greek life outdoor singles bar as it was.

One day got altered by weather (lingering Thunderstorm) and one day was really, really hot, but other than that weather wasn't too much of an issue.

Big Grams was great. Matt and Kim was crazy goodness. Grimes blew me away. I really, really enjoyed The Wailers. The Neighboorhood was good. Cage was fantastic. Lenny Kravitz was better than expected. Grouplove was good as always. Jason Isabell just didn't do it for me, but folks were going crazy. Alabama Shakes was good, but not my favorite honestly.

This years line up is not great, but keep an eye on Loufest. Sometimes that is a great festival.

The lineups have been more attractive in the past. I caught some of Isabell on the telly and he does a good job but doesn't do it for me either. I like the Alabama Shakes. They seem talented. I like watching them play. I'm just not that into their music. Saw some Panic at the Disco too and liked it but I'm glad I wasn't down there where those big pink flamingos were floating around. I would like to see Kravitz and Leon Bridges would have been good. Maybe one of these days.

hollybob just canoed 135 miles and you guys are talking about mediocre rock bands at a B level festival? Geez. At least Ham got out when he returned and had a fishing report Wednesday.

A few pics from the trip. The first is from day one. Not far from Ponca. The 2nd is fellow river tripper Andy with a lost dog we found about 5 miles up from Woolum. He got a ride in Andy's canoe to the Woolum camp site. The 3rd is my first night's camp in the Lower Wilderness area and the last is me taking out at Riley's Station.  I can't seem to get the first and last to load right side up. Computer is down.....working off a tablet.

Anyone got any mediocre rock I should play on the way to do the whole Buffalo River this year? I got a 14' Old Town, a dog and time so it's looking like the right thing to do. Time to stir up the stew and fire up the dehydrator. Thanks for the inspiration.
