fishinwrench Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 Does everyone realize that frogging season starts at sundown tonight? Looks like this years numbers will be excellent. I think the mild winter combined with the rain will produce some good frogs. Now you've done it. I expect a froggin report thread in the next 48 hours. I can't ever remember seeing one here in all the years of OAF. Get On'em boys! I bet Billetheads secret pond is LOADED!
LoweSTX175 Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 Now you've done it. I expect a froggin report thread in the next 48 hours. I can't ever remember seeing one here in all the years of OAF. Get On'em boys! I bet Billetheads secret pond is LOADED! I can't go tonight or tomorrow night. I'm planning on fishing stockton early on Friday. Hopefully on Saturday night I'll get some gig time in. Some pictures of stringers filled with frogs would be appropriate for OAF. I've got two secret ponds in Nevada Missouri that are going to get picked the following weekend.
Members Dollar Bill Posted July 1, 2015 Members Posted July 1, 2015 I've eaten many drum from Table rock and Stockton and the smaller ones from 1 to 3 pounds are just as good as any bass. A little firmer which would be great for fish tacos which I had for the first time recently. The meat is white and flakey and if you season it well and dont overcook it its pretty darn good. Just sayin... Is this fun or what!
laker67 Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 They are good for bait, on loz we use them for buzzard bait. Works great. You will never use anyting else.
Members jbeenemd Posted July 3, 2015 Members Posted July 3, 2015 I've never eaten a Freshwater drum, but the redfish are the worst tasting saltwater fish I've eaten. I don't understand the hype personally. I've heard little ones were good grilled. No thanks. I've got too much Red snapper, sheepshead and trigger fish. The drum IS a fresh water sheepshead.
